I’m pretty sure I’m missing much of the point, but wow aren’t those commercials irritatingly stupid? Anyway, first post! :D

I’m guessing Rall is talking about scoot in that last panel, but I know I’m wrong since the guy hates or is afraid of women. His mother perhaps?
!
I just found out why scoot hates women! Hurray for me!
(Second post but nobody cares)

Well, d_legendary, Im thinking not every cartoon, if any, are about getting the scoots.

It’s just about that Sprint commercial for the Now network.

I think we all get it, Ted, but these posts are going after one of the more ubiquitous, inane, and annoying posters on Gocomics.

The University of Toronto has just released a study on Anger In American produced by “Anger Expert” Scott Schieman – Could he be our Scott?

Just realize any of you would be piled upon by disagreeable bloggers if you were posting progressive stuff in either of the Washington Post’s blogs.
Become part of the change you want, little steps at a time at least.

I hate that ad!!! ¸ The stuff with ads is that the more irritating they are, the more they work.
Some ads I absolutely, positively, completely CAN’T FREAKIN STAND!!!!!; That ad McDonalds did for the olympics with a girl and a guy singing with an irritating voice. That anti-drug ad by the Quebec government with like 6 year-old kids enumerating street names for drugs…like a six year-old could do cocaine or heroin without his parents figuring out something’s wrong. Culture of fear, anyone?
Ads I love; Pedigree dog food ads. Very simple; a dog eating and a guy with a slow voice talking. The “there aint no bugs on me” ad for anti mosquito-stuff for dogs (useless product, but cute ad). About any Telus ads with rabbits, lizards… …and the Geico ad with the lizard.

Wow, it would seem I really started something there…all saying your post number to five…you sheep! :p
I guess more specifically Mr. Rall, I meant I was confused about the man in the cartoon. Is he supposed to be the guy the commercial is hoping to reach? Some pitiful half-man who will feel unimportant if not using the Now Network?
rikoshayrabbit, Scotty still hasn’t posted on this cartoon; he is usually the first…what happened? I’m a little sad. I hope he didn’t hurt himself. What amuses me (and what may be a major factor in his self-loathing) is that since his employer is a woman, he is DEPENDENT on a woman. (all employees are dependent upon their employers for raises, job security, etc.)

Add those Burger King “Angry whopper” ads to those I hate.

Best ad I have seen for a long time was the “Apple Air ad” that advertised their new computer when it first came out. The song that accompanied the ad was so good that I bought the product.

Who watches TV? Love Rall, but have no context for this cartoon.
mattro65 over 14 years ago
As I do not have a tv, and very rarely watch it in other places this cartoon totally lost me. That’s what I get for not being a little consumerist cog in the huge over-consumption machine.

I appreciate the sentiment ahab, but I refuse to cave to the intense societal pressure to unthinkingly “support the troops.” The only troops who deserve my support are the deserters who are all too few in number. I support those who refuse to kill and die.
rikoshayrabbit, I definitely agree there, but I do what I think is arguably even more peaceful. I’m no lone ranger, I prefer for others and my money, as well as others’ money to work for me. My properties have to be up to code and I hold them in legal entities, but I don’t consider that asking permission; I work with the government, moreover it’s none too hard to do.

If he were gonna make fun of the ads he should have made a cartoon about the Burger King. That is one freaky mascot! Imagine waking in the morning and seeing that thing next to your bed with a burger in his hand?

So, basically, nothing worked in the US since the 30s? I might have to disagree here.
ScumFrittata over 14 years ago
Ahahahaha, the one Rall comic that Scottffrittata has NOT commented on is the one that features a whiny little wuss feeling inadequate!
So, so telling.
Priceless!
