The same medical coverage as government would be super! I’m an independent, 71, female, a non tea party and voting for Romney. I love the plan and I know it won’t have any negative effects on my current medicare and social security. Under Obama, I have lost more than 40% of my IRA . Guess I don’t fit the stereotype the Dems are trying to portray.

Obama did more for me in his first six months than GW did in eight years. He cut spending (partly by ending the war in Iraq) more than any Republican president in memory. He reduced my taxes more than Bush did (because I’m self employed and work for a living, the payroll tax cut did a lot more for me than GW’s cuts on capital gains). Don’t Ask Don’t Tell didn’t affect me directly, but it’s nice having a moral leader in government for a change, rather than a craven panderer.

Picked the guy who wants to eliminate medicare and turn it into a voucher system, the guy who wants to state life begins with an egg (but no tax deduction for that life), wants to take away over 1 million Pell grants and give that funding to the military, the guy who has no military or foreign service experience, who has been a government lifer.

Just remember none of Mitts income on his reported returns was from work. It was all investments – so NO hard work lost.

Neocon Man, are there enough of them in the correct states? Mitt was going to get the R’s to vote for him anyway. They didn’t (and don’t) like him but they will vote for any candidate the R’s run. The D’s will vote for whatever candidate their party runs. It comes down to the indie “I don’t know I’ll make up my mind that day” group.

dear gary please check your statementshttp://truecostblog.com/2009/07/30/medicare-bankrupt-in-6-8-years-without-rationing/ Medicare’s annual spending exceeded revenue brought in from taxes in 2008, forcing Medicare to begin spending its reserve funds. According to the Medicare Trustees, Medicare’s reserve will be empty by 2017, and Medicare will have to cut benefits or payment rates by 19% to balance its budget 1. Since the projected date of Medicare’s bankruptcy has been brought forward many times 2, it’s likely that the actual date of bankruptcy may be as early as 2015 note this before bho pulls $500000000+ out

Gary Kleppe: Well, he didn’t start the wars, but he didn’t stop them either … at least until the majority stopped supporting them. Then he switched to “I have the right to kill anyone I say.” Voting the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. Not voting is betraying your responsibility as a citizen.

Anywhere in the world, Greens support: grassroots democracy, economic justice, environmental responsibility, and nonviolence. Jill Stein won’t become president, but a vote for her will at least force the admission that there is another choice. Currently in the mass media, only Amy Goodman (Democracy Now) is permitted even to mention the party exists.

Neither Medicare or Social Security are “broken”. Both need to have funding issues addressed. Reagan did it in 1983.“This bill demonstrates for all time our nation’s ironclad commitment to Social Security. It assures the elderly that America will always keep the promises made in troubled times a half a century ago. It assures those who are still working that they, too, have a pact with the future. From this day forward, they have one pledge that they will get their fair share of benefits when they retire.” -Ronald Reagan

It was that big donation to Planned Parenthood he made back when he was a governor. He doesn’t want the teafascists to find out about it.

HOWIE. You do know it is possible to write more than a couple of sentences at a time, right? That is nearly always necessary to talk about something more complicated than a quiz show question.WRT Obamacare, you’re flat wrong. Here are some of the major aspects of it that have already been implemented.Seniors who reach the coverage gap will receive a 50 percent discount when buying Medicare Part D covered brand-name prescription drugs. New rules to prevent insurance companies from denying coverage to children under the age of 19 due to a pre-existing condition. All new plans must cover certain preventive services such as mammograms and colonoscopies without charging a deductible, co-pay or coinsurance.Up to 4 million small businesses are eligible for tax credits to help them provide insurance benefits to their workers. You can see the whole list at http://www.healthcare.gov/law/timeline/.

“And how much do you get paid to be an Obamabot?” I work on commission, Howie. I get a nickel every time you reply to my post with an inane, pointless non-response.You must be a very wealthy man. Do you mind if we raise your taxes a bit to reduce the deficit?

.It really gets my goat when I hear from some that our system is the best in the world. “Otherwise, how do you explain that foreigners [usually government officials] come to the U.S. for treatment?”.That argument is so non sequitur that it would be hilariously funny if those folks weren’t making the comparison seriously!.Of course, those who can afford it come to the U.S. for treatment, for possibly the best care in the world! That is not the point, since not everyone can afford to pay the price! Many personal bankruptcies have been precipitated by the inability to pay the medical bill! .What kind of warped thinking drives one to argue against universal health care, based upon the fact that wealthy foreigners come to the U.S. for treatment? How lame!.
