Actually, Chick-fil-A have done more than talk. They donated tens of thousands of dollars to the evangelical groups fighting to make gay marriage illegal.

Eh? I’m sure Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries did more to make marriage meaningless than a gay couple who are in a loving, commited relationship.

I haven’t eaten there or at Dominos Pizza in at least 15 years so I am getting tired of these cartoons.

“Fighting to make gay marriage illegal? Or fighting to keep the definition of marriage from being meaningless?”If Britney Spears’ 5 minute marriage didn’t make marriage meaningless, how will gay marriage? You act like marriage needs be some kind of exclusive club that must prevent the “undesirables” from gaining access.

Ever notice how all these “Love they Neighbor” (so called) Christians spew hate when you disagree with their bigoted views? Maybe they’re NOT really Christian, but pretending to be so they can use the Bible to justify their hatred.

The Cathy’s (owners of Chik-fil-A) donate millions to conservative groups, including groups that are pushing for laws and amendments to define marriage as ‘between a man and a woman’.I won’t give them my business because I don’t want my money going to those causes. On the other hand, they haven’t broken any laws. I really don’t like the local officials who are promising to keep Chik-fil-A out of town.

His “Christian” belief says he can speak out against “gay”, around 5-10% of the population. Jews are 2% of the population, but evangelicals won’t pick on them, because at the “rupture”, they’ll convert or die, paving the way for evangelicals to be TOTAL bigots against anyone they disagree with. Buddhists don’t get attacked, about the same percentage as Jews. Muslims aren’t big on the numbers in the U.S., but the “hate brigade” holds nothing back regarding their destruction- even though world-wide, there are 1.5 BILLION of them to hate, which COULD be a tad dangerous if they really started bombing and killing people at the rate of say, George Bush, Reagan, GHW, or other “right wing Christians”.

thanks Dtroutma. you said that really well. These rightwing hate-filled Christians don’t speak for all Christians. I’m a leftwing Christian who thinks that Jesus meant it when he said to help your neighbor, love your neighbor. He did Not say love your neighbor except when he is gay, Muslim,Mexican.

Jesus did not say all except…, Jesus said ALL!

chickafilet is disgusting. they don’t open on sundays. they say because of some nonsense about sabbath, reality is that the founder was burnt out working 6 days a week, and wanted to take 1 day off.

Gay marriage does now exist. And has in other cultures, too. Sorry.

Wow, what bee got up YOUR butt? I never tried to “deny him his right to do business”, did I?

However: I wildly underestimated the amount of money he has give for his “cause” — he has donated over $5 million to the Family Research Council and the Marriage & Family Foundation, organizations which have not just worked to criminalize gay marriage, but which have worked hard to criminalize homosexuality itself, supporting bills to jail homosexuals in some states as well as in other countries, and spending money and political and religious pressure supporting the death penalty for “homosexual activity” in Uganda and other countries in Africa, as recently as the start of this year.

It is Cathy’s absolute and inalienable right to do business as a restaurant. It is Cathy’s absolute and inalienable right to state his own positions on causes, and to spend money on political causes. However, it also goes a bit beyond “free speech” when you support causes which try to imprison or kill people for who they are, and whose only crime is to have sex with the “wrong” consenting adult. It is hardly unreasonable to not want more money to be spent on that, and on hurting people.

A few thoughts on this from someone on the “wrong” side of this divide: http://www.owldolatrous.com/?p=288.

Erm, you know, civil rights have generally only been gained after massive protests. Can you think of an exception?

…But that follows this; and America is still at the stage where anyone can be fired from any job simply for being gay, in 29 states — I think it is fair to say that America is still at the stage that massive protests are necessary.
