On the other hand, they haven’t broken any laws. I really don’t like the local officials who are promising to keep Chik-fil-A out of town.
His “Christian” belief says he can speak out against “gay”, around 5-10% of the population. Jews are 2% of the population, but evangelicals won’t pick on them, because at the “rupture”, they’ll convert or die, paving the way for evangelicals to be TOTAL bigots against anyone they disagree with. Buddhists don’t get attacked, about the same percentage as Jews. Muslims aren’t big on the numbers in the U.S., but the “hate brigade” holds nothing back regarding their destruction- even though world-wide, there are 1.5 BILLION of them to hate, which COULD be a tad dangerous if they really started bombing and killing people at the rate of say, George Bush, Reagan, GHW, or other “right wing Christians”.

However: I wildly underestimated the amount of money he has give for his “cause” — he has donated over $5 million to the Family Research Council and the Marriage & Family Foundation, organizations which have not just worked to criminalize gay marriage, but which have worked hard to criminalize homosexuality itself, supporting bills to jail homosexuals in some states as well as in other countries, and spending money and political and religious pressure supporting the death penalty for “homosexual activity” in Uganda and other countries in Africa, as recently as the start of this year.
It is Cathy’s absolute and inalienable right to do business as a restaurant. It is Cathy’s absolute and inalienable right to state his own positions on causes, and to spend money on political causes. However, it also goes a bit beyond “free speech” when you support causes which try to imprison or kill people for who they are, and whose only crime is to have sex with the “wrong” consenting adult. It is hardly unreasonable to not want more money to be spent on that, and on hurting people.
