The fox not really news segment on this was HILARIOUS. Especially the whole making fun of the “beret”, likely forgetting that the most hardcore, badass people on earth wear berets.

why? ask the former levi’s factory employees in arkansas, now that levis is made in mexico. ask the dodge employees in detroit making $12 an hour (vice $127), now that 80% of manufacturing is in canada and mexico. the only way we can get back to being competetive, is to resurrect slavery, to compete with near-slavery employment elsewhere. :(

Union or not, any American worker was going to be undercut by 3rd-world wages, so long as the executives felt under-paid and down-trodden. Even the Chinese are waking up to the possibilities of unionized pay scales as @lonecat suggests..

I don’t think your argument is necessarily true. We managed to raise the real standard of living of people in the US over the last 150 years or so, I bet we can do it for people all around the world.

It isn’t just looking for “bargains”. The simple FACT is that Republican policies have driven the U.S. to have nearly the highest degree of income INequality, in the “industrialized” world, period. We’v driven the middle class into a rout, and that’s not good. It isn’t a level “playing field” when a small percentage are in the box seats, and “Joe average”, can’t afford the outfield bleacher seats.

Adults were predicting it when I was in elementary school; early 1960s. Later, they recommended learning the Chinese language because it would become the large trading partner and more, even before nixxon went there.

New auto stickers used to say “Made in USA” on the assembly, now, thanks to "W"s folks, it’s “North American Content” percentage, because so much is made in Canada or Mexico. Looked at a Kia; more U.Sl content than the “American” car next to it. Only the transmission of the Kia was “forieign”.
