    I will give Obama one thing – he’s destroyed more jobs than pretty much anyone else. Wasn’t that another crony-run Solar firm that just went belly up this week?

    Is this a record ? Only one comment ( relevant to the strip ) before the trolls came out. If you all would simply flag or ignore them, rather than respond to their inanities, ( which is what they crave ), perhaps they’d confine themselves to Mallard Fillmore. Nah, we couldn’t be that lucky…

    @gmartin997 Trudeau’s a liberal*? Who’da thunk it? How long have you been reading this strip…?

    @Gatocat The whole fuss over so-called ‘Obamacare’ is probably, along with gun control, the thing that makes most of the rest of the developed world wonder what they’re putting in the US water supply. The idea that a majority of Americans is now in favour of NOT ensuring that all citizens can get a decent standard of healthcare regardless of the ability to pay just boggles our minds, since it is considered one of the marks of developed civilisation everywhere else.

    *’liberal’ as per US definition. ‘Centre-right’ as per European definition. ‘Wet Tory’ as per 1980s British definition….

    Odd, that the USA is a rare “advanced” society where the people don’t care enough about their fellow citizens to make sure that EVERYONE has health insurance. Obama may drag you kicking and screaming into a civilized sense of social responsibility.

    “Obamacare” is a bully victim name. It’s a name people don’t take seriously because it’s something to pick on instead. I think its negative association is more because of the name it was saddled with instead of what it actually is.

    It really doesn’t matter which party or their current personality is in office, since they’re all corrupt and incompetent. Our current “democratic” system guarantees that result, and it’s not going to change for the better any time soon.

    A corporate raider identifies a company with undervalued stock, buys it up and gains control, sells off assets, and departs with the money leaving the employees to soon be laid off as the company collapses. Mitt is the opposite. He buys stock and gets control, then sits down with them and figures out why their company is struggling, and helps them fix it, saving their jobs and incidentally making a profit with the company now at increased value. He sometimes has to fire a couple of dead wood people. This procedure doesn’t always work, he’s had a small number of failures, which are now being trumpeted. Wow, is this the worst they can do?

Including tens of billions of dollars missing, stolen or ‘mismanaged’.I have family like yours also. Angrily defended Bush, Dick, and Iraq for years. only the Little People pay taxes, anyway. so who’s going to buy the ""Stuff"" when the little people have no jobs to make money to buy the “things” Business makes in China to sell to Americans.

    the 32,000 wounded should not be an afterthought— that’s the most important stat about the wars. All of us will be burdened with them for the rest of their lives, as, of course, we should be. They’re going to cost us all a bunch, forever. Not just financially, but morally as well.

    “When President Bush tried to change Fannie and Freddie, he was blocked . . . strange that the bubble popped just when McCain started to lead over Barry?”The right used to try to blame the entire recession on Fannie & Freddie and Barney Frank, even though at the time, the Republicans controlled every committee in both the House and the Senate, AND the White House AND the Supreme Court.They haven’t been trying this in the last few years, because it’s so absurd.But good ol’ Guard . . . trying again!

    I’m as liberal as anyone I know, but I realized a long time ago that both major parties are extremely corrupt. I stopped voting for major party candidates years ago. These days, my votes are split between the Green and Socialist Parties. President Obama is far too conservative for my tastes. I voted for Brian Moore (Socialist Party) in the last presidential election.

    Well I’ll be, my earlier comment was flagged off the site, probably for the Monkey Tail link. I can’t figure out if was from the Chinese censors or from the local comrades. It was picking up some good hits from 6 countries including Others and then poof gone. I hate counter-free speech reactionaries. Remember, it’s not how many times you get flagged off the site that counts, it’s how many times you re-post that matters.

    @GuardSGTBut trying to get Kurds, Sunnies and Shites to work together is like hurding cats.

    =====

    Well, deliberately poking fun at the names of their denominations will help, I’m sure…

    Personally I had no problem with Iraq 1, nor with Afghanistan if it had not been ignored once Iraq 2 started. But the USA after 9/11 had a massive amount of worldwide sympathy which it completely squandered in Iraq 2, where (until after the invasion) there was no Al Quaeda activity at all.

    Had it spent that political capital in getting a real settlement in Israel/Palestine, it could have brought great good from a massive evil. As it is, that problem has been neglected for a decade, even though it is the best recruiting sergeant the jihadists have. As it is, the grafitto in Aida camp (Bethlehem) sums it up – We cannot go on living like this, so we wait to die’.
