I actually like playing golf. What I hate is that most days about half of the comic strips I read have golf jokes. I don’t think these guys are working real hard any more.
Golf is a challenge even for the best of players. There are so many things you have to do right and there is a lot of satisfaction when you actually do.
Take it up with Mark Twain. Or maybe William Gladstone. In any case, in the form “Golf is a good walk spoiled”, the expression (whoever said it) has been around for a century or more.
I used to say that golf was the only sport where an ordinarily sensible man could dress badly. Sadly John Daly is one of the last to uphold that tradition. Although, Ricky’s Orange ensemble comes close.
Having played golf I was always of the opinion that the golf balls were looking for a better golfer than me.. I always wished them well in that pursuit. From watching people who had been playing years longer than me.. I think those golf ball were going to be looking for a loooong time.
A great riposte. That’s why I love comics, I suppose…life slowed down where I can savor those wonderful moments.Often they go by so quick the rush of good feelings from recognizing wit doesn’t fully develop. Hope my sense of humor pick-up gets quicker, because so many bright quick people are out there…especially when they don’t know they’re doing it…and, anyway, I always have the comics…
And golf? terribly warlike game, very sophisticated savagery. Amazing what people don’t know about golf and tennis…

Golf is a ‘game’ invented by the same people who think a squalling bagpipe is ‘music’!!!
