    But that theory only works for stars on the other side of the galaxy. Stars on the same side won’t have as pronounced of a red shift.This is also assuming that the further the star is from the center, the older it is. That’s not necessarily true.

    The original stars within those galaxies are dead, but they have given ‘birth’ to other generations of stars. Our own sun is believed to come from the remnants of past supernovae and the Milky Way itself is believed to be over 13 billion years old, making it one of the oldest galaxies.

    Despite the fact that Lambda-CDM is the current standard model of cosmology, the cosmological constant Λ has major problems explaining how dark energy accelerates the expansion of the universe.I tend towards the Quintessence model since it can vary in space and time.
