Don’t you dare infringe on what I think is MY religious freedoms!!!!; however, I have no problem telling YOU that you have to live your life fowling my beliefs..
Well, right. Forcing someone to pay for something that is a) against their religious believes and b) is optional… yeah. That’s legal. Riiiiiight. But, back to the toon, the issue is that the media is all over the letters from the pope and is ignoring the 800 pound gorilla in the room that is the constitutional violation. The toon is saying how the media’s priorities are all jacked up.
Birth control is no longer a religious or political issue. 95% of the USA uses birth control. Now it’s just a question of ego and tradition — time for the institutions (Roman Catholic Church and GOP) to fess up and join everyone in teh 21st century.
If you’re going to run a BUSINESS then you have to follow the Federal guidlines and regulations like any other BUSINESS. Besides the LAW doesn’t say you HAVE to USE Birth Control ONLY that it has to be made available to those that wish to use it… and you’re not paying for their pills any more than they might be paying for a medication that you take but they don’t need or want…
The Catholic Church and many other denominations have clearly and consistently articulated – for decades – their positions against birth control (this is especially true for Catholics), abortion/abortion causing pharmaceuticals, etc. These positions are rooted in and developed from their established doctrines. It is a clear and fundamental violation of the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution to require these entities to provide and pay for the things that absolutely violate their long-held religious conscience.
There is great reason that the 1st Amendment exists. If you support and allow religious freedoms to be abused and rejected, do not be surprised when freedoms of speech, press, petition, and assembly are restricted, too.
We don’t have the right to say exactly how our taxes are spent. We have elections to select the leaders, and delegate that responsibility to them. You still pay for the murderer to be executed, even if you don’t believe in the death penalty. You still pay for the social security, even if you don’t believe in that. You still pay for education even if you don’t have children.
the LAW doesn’t say you HAVE to USE Birth Control ONLY that it has to be made available to those that wish to use it… and you’re not paying for their pills any more than they might be paying for a medication that you take but they may not need or want… it’s just part of the Insurance Plan. It’s SOoo easy to judge others when you don’t know what your talking about.. Just a religious zealot
I’m going to go ahead and call a WAAAAAAAMBULANCE for all the little christians who think that their religious freedom has EVER been threatened. Maybe ramirez can focus his next strip on the 7 states in the U.S. where it is illegal for atheists to hold public office.
I am against giving my tax dollars to the church. And yet, its still happening. So much for my religious freedom. But then again, christians don’t think religous freedom should apply to atheists.

For those on the Left who are easily distracted, the issue isn’t who pays for birth control, it’s whether the 1st Amendment (and therefore the rest of the Constitution) should be upheld. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” THAT’S why the Catholic Church is suing the government…and Ramirez is commenting on the fact that the MSM is ignoring the story.
What I hear you saying is .. Don’t you dare infringe on what I think is MY religious freedoms!!!!; however, I have no problem telling YOU that you have to live your life fowling my beliefs.. If the right wing religious Zealots have there way… like another extremist religious group … my way is the ONLY way.. They just don’t blow people up.
Again for the mentaly defective …. you’re not paying for their pills any more than they might be paying for a medication that you take but they may not need or want… it’s just part of the Insurance Plan

When churches pay taxes, they might have a stronger argument for THEIR determining what the “state” can do???

No employer should be able to impose their religious beliefs on their employees. This is a matter of individual religious freedom.
