Is this the first “dark and stormy night”?

We are currently living on laptops, tablets and other mobile device. Snoopy had it rough back in the days!

Thank goodness for laptops. Lightweight and easy to delete and edit. Just needs that USP thing to connect to a desktop in order to print.

Suddenly a shot rang out.A door slammed.A maid screamed.Suddenly a pirate ship appeared on the horizon.

Cult strip! May I compare this arc as the Mozart 40th symphony of the Comics?

I am sure even with modern technologies nowadays, it is still “dark and stormy night” for Snoopy. This is cult.

As a translator, I do value the ability to edit without having to retype a whole page (or chapter) for one or two mistakes. But nothing will replace the clack of the typewriter, and the “ping” of the end of the line, for those of us who grew up with them. And nobody ever got repetitive motion stress from a traditional typewriter. That keyboard was stepped for a reason.

Yes, I started on a typewriter. Though I think wordprocessing (when I got it in 1984) was a godsend. BTW, when I give fiction writing tips, the first thing I say is don’t start your story with ‘It was a dark and stormy night.’ My point being a writer’s view point should not be passive, disengaged third person, and cliche`. But I brought a copy of this comic to our writing group years ago for a good laugh.

Why couldn’t it be a calm sunny day?

I can hear the tenagers now asking “Whats a typewriter?”

Today people write on iphones, ipads, and laptops. We still have a typewriter. lol

Awwwww! How sweet. I used to have a Barbie typewriter, the whole thing was pink with purple numeral and letter keys. I think anyway.

People still use printers for manuscripts? Why? That seems so very very inefficient. Why mail it when you can electronically send it. Some people will always be stuck in the dark ages, though.

I learned to type on a typewriter, and hated it. I loved when computers came out.

Look at Snoopy in the last panel, a true writer.

I remember my big upgrade; manual to electric typewriter. Boy am I old.

Since Snoopy has a posh interior of his doghouse, I thought he would have a computer.

Funny thing about typewriters. The QWERTY keyboard was designed to prevent keys from getting stuck on mechanical typewriters (like what Snoopy’s using). The inventor did this because his wife and son were typing too fast and getting the keys stuck together. Later typewriters, word processors, laptops and computers eliminated the need. Other keyboard designs are out there, but do you think it’ll change? Nah.

At least it’s wireless… :-D

I agree. I would never make fun of someone because they were unaware of certain facts. We can all learn something from others every day. It’s only those people who refuse to keep an open mind and an open heart who are truly ignorant.
