What does a ten-year-old know about nostalgia?

On another note, I like the way the border in the first panel became the water stream and puddle.

Yes, Caulfield certainly hit the nail on the head –

    Don’t confuse school with learning!!!

Ouch! But good memories are better than a fire place in winter……

Uh, it’s not Latin, but Greek. (From “algos”)

The problem, Caufield, is that the meaning of the word has changed over time.

Nosta (home) plus Algia (pain) is really “home sickness.”

Which has come to mean “longing for another time”, though it really means “wanting to go back to your old home, to the point of illness.”

Anybody remember Gahan Wilson’s 70s-vintage comic in the National Lampoon, “Nuts”? As Wilson said, “Those who remember how great it was to be a little kid, don’t remember how it was to be a little kid.” Nostalgia is built around faulty memory.

For a moment, I thought Frazz was breaking the fourth wall. It looks like his hose is sucking up the panel border.

I agree with Caulfield on this one.

I’m starting high school, and Caulfield knows more than I’ve learned in school. The only subject I’ve really learned things in is math, but who likes math? We don’t do anything in English. And we don’t learn the cool science stuff in middle school. All in all, high school better be better, or my head will explode from pointless homework. Why homework? We already had seven hours of school! We don’t need more!

Also, Caulfield must have read some Mark Twain quotes. He often said “don’t confused education with schooling.”

Ray Bradbury (RIP) said something similar, but it didn’t involve getting laid.
