I, too, am a “Titanic” philistine – never seen it, doubt I ever will. Likewise I have never seen “Love Story”, “Dirty Dancing” or “Pretty Woman”. I did watch “Road House” for the butt-kicking, however.
See Scott’s and John’s notes on Jay in yesterday’s posts. Titanic? Never had a desire to see it. I’m the wrong age demographic for the targeted audience. My tastes tend to run toward bald Scots. ;-)
never seen it either, you seen one big ship sink and they all start to look the same going down. Just different types of people and uniforms running around trying to get off the deck.
had the misfortune to see it on a date. Spent the whole movie picking out plot holes and logic slips you could drive the old girl through….and was told afterward “John, you are NOT a chick flick guy, are you?” (uhhhh……..no.)
I saw ET before anyone knew it would be a hit. Yes, it’s true. When it first came out, the studio thought they were releasing a cult movie. All the big money in Hollywood that year, all the merchandising push, was on Annie.
I haven’t seen Titanic either… I don’t want to too, plus, my dad saw it and said it’s not that so very good, he wouldn’t see it again. I just like the songs. Plus, I know thw ending: the ship sinks… :)
Neither have I seen it. The theme tune put me off. If it were historically accurate, I might have borrowed the DVD and sat through it but having “pretty” people playing the parts of steerage class passengers is ludicrous.
That would be interesting. Well, Molly Brown was real, but you never know how faithful a movie willing to be even with historical characters. Usually not very.
Have not seen James Cameron’s Titanic. Not tempted with all the hype during the first run. Nor during this 100th anniversary of the sinking. .But Titanic (1953) with Robert Wagner – and The Unsinkable Molly Brown with Debbie Reynolds… those two I would be more than willing to see again. Of course, never saw them on the big screen. Only on the TV. But still worth it.

That’s OK, I’ve seen Titanic enough times to make up for the rest of you. And my webpages on Titanic are /very/ popular.

You’d think his wife would have noticed by now.

Haven’t seen Titanic either. I have seen every episode of Doctor Who, though so I guess Roy would like me…

Roy’s a logical man. He already knows how the story ends, so why see the movie.

Never seen it either. If I want to watch a “titanic” film I would rather watch “The Unsinkable Mollie Brown”

I never saw it. I did read the Mad Magazine version of another ship, The Poop Side Down Adventure.

Never watched the new remake of The Titanic. Did see the early B&W version which wasn’t too bad. 1943 German version.

The only Titanic I cared about was on a Doctor Who Christmas Special. Tenth Doctor by the way. Sad thing about Astrid.
