no one including the British, the Russians and the afghans themselves have brought peace and unity to Afghanistan for thousands of years, why do we think we can do it in a hundred
You can’t give a country “democracy” at the point of YOUR gun, especially, when the system they had for generations was more “democratic” than the one you offer! Invasions are a terrible way to “win friends and influence people”, especially when you kill their kids, wholesale.
Democracy is an alien idea in most of the world. They have no concept of what it is let alone how it works. the people in Afghanistan are still living in 15th century tribal culture. to try and bring them to 21st century American middle class democracy is futile. in fact i am not sure that 21st century American middle class culture exists here anymore either
Matt W. said, “Remember how you said the hardest part would be uniting the Afghan people?” Well we certainly have overcome that hurdle, only we have united them against the wrong people…us! Now what, Sir?
Watch “Red Dawn” again, put away the silliness of the script and acting, and think of someone invading US! Yup, we’d welcome them with flowers and open arms.
