(except that Goldwater was far to the left of any of the current GOP candidates in terms of gay rights, women’s rights, abortion, corporate welfare, the environment, and belief in America as a country.)
I don’t think Newt sees anything he doesn’t like. Santorum certainly sees things he doesn’t like but I’m not sure how much he gets that being president means being president of the whole country – not just the parts you like.

No I suspect that Newt knows what he is doing. After all if he can get enough delegates he will very good position to bargain for a position or for some other form of payment in exchange for them. Think about it if Mitt has to barter for delegates from someone wouldn’t he rather pay Newt off than Rick? Newt will want power or $ but Rick will want his ideas ran on which will doom Mitt with independents…
