Rush Limbaugh: Want me to pay for their contraceptives, do they? Prostitutes is what they are!! Bah! Elitist sluts! Cat: Who's the fat jerk with the big cigar? Dog: Really! How can you call him that? Why, he's the most revered, finest, most upstanding, widely renowned and respected right-wing media foulmouth in the business! Cat: Goodness! Should I apologize? Dog: I wouldn't go that far, but you must try to remember... that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Punk: Don't call him fat again.

why can’t college girls make the guy pay for the condom?

“I know you’re suffering from hormonal imbalances, Mrs. Smith, but we don’t cover hormonal birth control anymore. Just make your guy pay for a condom! That’ll do the same thing, right?”

It seems to me Limbaugh knew exactly what he was doing. He’s a master of language and realizes the nuances in what he broadcasts — unless he was under the influence, of course. Regardless of what you think of his viewpoints, he’s a professional willing to take risks. He might have miscalculated slightly, but he’ll come back. And if not, well, he’s already a multi-multi-millionaire.
In FOLLOWING THE EQUATOR, Mark Twain relates a conversation with P.T.Barnum. Barnum wanted to buy Jumbo the elephant, a favorite at the London zoo. When that didn’t work at first, he made public inquiry into purchase of the Nelson Monument. Much uproar! Then he actually did buy Shakespeare’s birthplace, but in the face of virulent protests “generously” gave it back.
He did get Jumbo, which is what he really wanted after all. But even better, the series of incidents did serve to “furnish me a couple of columns of gratis advertising in every English and American paper for a couple of months, and give my show the biggest boom a show ever had in this world.”
Twain further commented that in planning to make a public apology Barnum thought “… such a letter, written with well-simulated asinine innocence and gush would have gotten his ignorance and stupidity an amount of newspaper abuse worth six fortunes to him, and not purchasable for twice the money.”
People such as Limbaugh are always three steps ahead of the public. Sadly, most pundits in the media are aware of the game and willingly gorge off the resultant publicity, as do remoras from sharks.

NO TAX-PAYER MONEY IS INVOLVED IN THIS ISSUE! (For the ten billionth time………..) So therefore “we” the tax-payers aren’t allowed to look at pornvideos (although Rush has outed himself and his 4th wife as liking the damn things……..)Although I’m no Calvin Trillin, I humbly submit for your approval the following:
Rush Limbaugh e’er rushes to judgmentWhich explains why his judgment is rushedOh, please may I fell a large oak treeTo see that he’s properly crushed?
Or bed him in nest of pit vipersTo counter the poison he’s spreadingOr place him in yonder wood-chipperTo make sure his fat he is SHREDDING!

You are such a fine spokesman for the Catholic Church. You know as well as anyone that Bill Maher has a limited audience who pay for HBO, and that he called out nobody but the loudmouthed and very vocal dingbats who purport to speak for the Republican party. Not at all like the Bloviator and you who excuse his three-day rant against Ms Fluke, an otherwise unknown witness in a congressional hearing. You, sir are a hypocrite of the first order, and I will not wonder when you eventually sputter yourself into the incoherence you’re quickly approaching.

Please re-read my post slowly and carefully. I think Limbaugh is a professional communicator, in the sense a hitman or a call girl or an ad writer for tobacco products is a professional.
He is a propagandist who twists truth into weird balloon shapes for gullible dopes. To justify his bloated pay there is no s—- he will not say. If you think he is completely stupid or tasteless he has deluded you. I resent having to live in a world where he and people like Charlie Sheen make millions.
I thought I made a neat point in comparing him to P.T. Barnum, and in the process giving one of you the incentive to read a less known book by Mark Twain, whom I admire very much.
Sorry to get your viscera in an uproar.

This is getting interesting. As of today at least 50 sponsors have canceled their ads on his show. goo.gl/I7zZ5Media Matters has reported that on his show yesterday that 86 ads were aired on his show, of which 77, were public service announcements (which are not paid for). In addition, because the show did not have enough ads to run, there was 5:33 of dead air when ads should have been running.I’d say the boycott has been pretty effective so far. As of today, the list of known sponsors of the show is down to 17.goo.gl/s1FwWAnd all of those are not big bucks major corporations.

Of course not, that would require him to have an actual BACKBONE

And now, were comes Sean Hannity, trying to stir up the race issue with a tape that ‘proves’ Obama is a radical who plays favorites with minorities.
Slanthead’s already been caught in one huge whopper on this, claiming that this tape was ‘suppressed by the left during the 2008 campaign.’ ( It actually showed on Frontline that year. )
These nudniks just never learn.

I think you missed the point… Limbaugh was the Barnum in that equation.

Bill Maher is a comedian on HBO or in a stage show which people pay for. Your BOY is on public radio, quite a difference!!!!!

Again with making Breitbart look good. Great job! Most delicious part is listening to you paraphrase George W. Bush with the ’You’re either with us, or you must be against us’ line that W used to kick off his foreign policy after 9-11.
A lot of us don’t listen to Limbaugh because we find him way too tiresome to handle in 3 minute doeses, let alone a 3 hr broadcast, but we do love the effect he has in mobilizing The Left to expose their irrational hatreds and thought processes. In your case, you’ve exposed an amazing toxic mythology that constitutes your analysis of the Republican party. Keep it up. You are the face of Leftist ideology and media machinery.
And… you generate Republican votes.

This is the perception one might garner when one listens to the venom spewed, rather than undertaking an objective search for facts. While it is true that some stores (Target, among others) have “The Pill” available for $9 per month, this alternative is not available to the general public. Here is a link for you to research; I recommend especially the comment left by “Actual Listener”: “You do realize, fine commenters, that Sandra Fluke was not asking for the Government (or you) to pay for her birth control, right? Because you all read/listened to what she had to say before commenting, right? Because clearly, she never asked for the government to pay for her birth control, and anyone with a modicum of reading/listening comprehension would know that. The woman asked that a constitutionally protected right not be denied by her medical insurer that she and her fellow female students pay for. She did not ask for condoms, or to have all kinds of free sex. She paid for a service, it should be provided.Incidentally, the Ortho Tri-Cyclen that you discuss in this article is not the best medication to treat PCOS, which was also discussed by Sandra Fluke in her testimony (but of course you knew that). In fact the medication that I use to treat PCOS as prescribed by my doctor and is also coincidentally none of your business but I’ll share anyway…costs $88.70 per month at my local Costco, which is the cheapest place around here to get prescriptions. If you consider that a law student spends 3 years at law school, and you multiply that by 88.70, why you get $3193.20. Odd how close that is to $3000. For a medically diagnosed condition to be treated. Which is exactly what Ms. Fluke stated in her testimony. You’re all here flipping out about the fact that you don’t have to pay for her birth control (because you don’t…because she didn’t ask you to), yet there are no people out there flipping out about the fact that MEDICARE AND MEDICAID (which tax money does pay for) COVERS BIRTH CONTROL PILLS. But all those people aren’t sluts; just the one who asks for equal treatment under the law.”

Well, revenue anyway. Soros’ empire makes more money than Limbaugh’s operations. Media Matters could never survive if it were measured on a ratings scale. MSNBC wouldn’t even give that operation a visible venue.

I have an actual comment on the strip itself. What is intended by “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” Is that in any way a reference to Bill Clinton notorious act with Monica Lewinsky? Or does it simply mean not to blame the cigar for the opportunistic demagogue who is behind it?
walruscarver2000 about 12 years ago
I had expected someone to answer the cigar question by now. Since no one has (apologies if I missed it), the cigar is just a cigar line is attributed to Sigmund Freud as his way of saying that not everything had a hidden meaning.
Godfreydaniel about 12 years ago
I would have thought the cigar quote would be pretty well-known. Of course if Freud didn’t smoke them himself, his quote might have been quite different…..And then there’s Rudyard Kipling with his “A woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a SMOKE!”

Sigmund Freud smoked his cigars from CubaWhile puffing away on his tuba“My patients won’t heed meSo I doubt that they need meIf you want me I’ll be in Aruba!”

I have listened to Rush Limbaugh for 22 years for one reason. He is truthful, honest, and more intelligent than any 10 of the (fellow) cartoonists who take cheap shots when he gets caught being too honest. How about a cartoon that makes fun of the little tramp whose testimony is about begging for taxpayer money for as much risk-free sex as she can handle?
