That’s why I have dogs. Their breath is always worse than mine.

JGMoore1701’s right…it’s an allusion to the cat-stealing-breath myth.

Panel 3 is what Little Muttley Beagle does to me when it’s time to get up. I don’t need an alarm clock.

I think JJ’s syndicate is probably a year away from printing the “solution” upside-down at the bottom of each strip. Some recent candidates:

Myth—cats kill sleepers by stealing their breath: http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/catsuck.aspA “cat’s paw” is a person who is used without their knowledge to accomplish someone else’s purposes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat’s_pawThe “idioms” Arlo refers to are the various signals Luddie uses to communicate a want or a need.Arlo’s suggesting that Luddie asked Janis why there’s no pork-flavored cat food.Janis switched to a cheaper coffee, and Arlo doesn’t notice. It’s a big electric blanket control, and Luddie wants it turned back on for him.

I have a word I use for a cat puking – “yonking”. Part honking, part yuck. Its the sound they make before they actually do it. And why is it on carpets, rugs, or sheets? It is never on the tile where it is easier to clean up.

The myth that cats will steal souls is from the fact they like to sleep next to warm bodies. When a cat crawls in a baby’s crib, it will sleep on the baby to keep warm. And the baby suffocates. I never had an issue with my cats doing that. They knew they were never supposed to be in the crib.

@GypsyWoman: Exactly. I have a remnant carpet strip my mother gave me to be an area rug, but over the years my cat has made it and the living room carpet her “yonking” area.
