Jon Huntsman . . . one of the last Republicans not teleported to Planet Wingnut. In the old days he would have been someone who staked out (what was then) a far-right position . . . who agreed that the facts are the facts, but advocated conservative policies to address them. Someone principled, but pragmatic, and willing to compromise when necessary for the good of the country.Too bad that Republican party is dead . . .

American politics is getting very scary for the rest of world to watch and observe. We can all only hope that common sense and goodwill will prevail for all our sakes!

And he still fails to plan sufficiently. Though, to be fair, nobody predicted the GOP race would be this long and stupid.

It seems to me that the GOP is too fractured to produce a nominee that can actually win the election. After this presidential election, the Republican party will have a minor collapse. They’ll either reform as much more moderate like the Democrats did in the late 80’s/early 90’s, or they’ll split and become two different parties: the Republican Party and the Tea Party.

RL-Pastis deserves some respect for foreseeing things three months ahead in the turbulent world of politics as well as he did! Cartoon-Pastis should give Rat a slap upside the head for his insult! And consider a dinner of grilled croc-on-a-stick (I hear it tastes like chicken…).

Hillbillyman-“Ant Republican”- Is this a new Pearls character waiting in the wings? I’ll bet his brain is larger than the other candidates.

Do they really draw the cartoons three months before they are published? I always figured it was a couple of days.

Dead-tree syndication constraints require much longer lead times than online-only comics, which can respond to events the very next day — e.g., “Day By Day” mentioning the death of Andrew Breitbart.

This strip reminds me of the Mad Magazine that came out the morning after the 1960 election: the cover had Alfred E waving a JFK banner & the caption reading “Congratulations Jack, we were behind you all the way.” Seemed like they had ESP until you flipped the magazine over & discovered it had two front covers; this one showed Alfred E. waving a Nixon banner & the caption reading “Congratulations Dick, we were behind you all the way.”

This reminds me of the “Sally Forth” cartoon the day after the last presidential election whre husband and wife are talking about the results of the election but not mentioning anything about the victor. In the last panel they finally admit that the cartoon was drawn well before election day.

To those wondering why strips are drawn so well in advance: This strip has to go in thousands of papers. They need time to plan. The bare minimum for a strip is 2 weeks (4 weeks for a sunday strip) but if you get ahead, then you get to have spontanious vacation time, or an untimely family problem, without causing problems.

I can’t think that Stephan wanted this strip to be a forum for politics or the social issues of the day. Too bad he doesn’t read the commentary; he would refrain from encouraging the soap boxes by mentioning the subjects. We will always have the folks with too much time on their hands submitting a daily pontification or semi-amusing jokes. But wading through the diatribes has ruined the fun for me, Anyone else left?

Many of my fellow Americans dislike Obama and realize that the press has a liberal bias. When my uncle heard about Obama bowing to the Saudi Arabian King, he almost had a stroke. The fact that Obama gave DVDs to the British Prime Minister that didn’t even work in England is shameful.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do about it because our elections at the state and federal level are usually a choice between bad and worse. Honest and intelligent people usually avoid going into politics.

I don’t think Larry has much of a future as a political expert, but I’m not too happy with the idea of any of the current nominees on the GOP ticket. The only guy I really thought would do the country some good was forced out of the race by the spineless liberals and they close ally, the politically correct gestapo.

Or, just do what Bill Amend does. Turn the strips in super late. Campaigns can’t change so much in 2 weeks.

Newt andhis ilk are still laying their eggs in the swamp. Ergo we must drain the swamp…isolate and or expunge the ringleaders…provide alternate flows of media, education, livelihood. Well done it works in Africa, Germany, Japan, Afghanistan…although nobody would say it’s been well-done. Very big job. Maybe some of THAT would work HERE…? just saying. We know where the flow of subversion comes from, we know where the membership lists are. The wrongwingers have created a lot of resentment. Maybe there will be a man on horseback…and since SCOTUS is bought and paid for, there’s NO legal redress left in this country…so the balance will be restored by extra-legal means. We must unite in a spirit of kindness and good sense, or Welcome to the Second Civil War…

Look at all the demoncraps trying to use a comic strip to make themselves feel good about our marxist president and the 4 dollar oil he has given with his enegry policies. They pretend killing babies and perverted behavior is normal and we are the ones with extreme views. On the last day it will be very clear who is Right and who is left/wrong.
