Well… not really. If you read the fine print, they’ve made up for the rest of this year, which is pretty much the status quo. Next year they’ll see if people are paying attention. I fear that the Komen Foundation is over, now that it’s run by radicals who put politics over health. It was a good thing while it lasted.

Mmmh, I guess “not very attractive” would in our self obsessed inviroment be assumed as being equal to stupid.

Remember the idiot Jon Kyle who said 90% of what planned parenthood does is abortions when in fact it is less than 3%.Then when called on it he said it wasn’t meant to be a factual remark.

Its not true that Planned Parenthood is just an abortion clinic. According to Planned Parenthood’s annual report only 3% of their services are abortions. The top two services are STD screening and treatment and cancer screenings.

Actually, ignorance is the treatable condition. Stupidity is terminal.

The fact the “bible thumpers” go on about abortion is the fact that at the time they wrote “the bible”, abortions were conducted, and MEN didn’t want THEIR “property” messed with, period. Then there’s the “spilled seed” thing, and a dude so “brave” he’ll let them rape his daughters rather than “take one for the team”. Yes, ignorance is treatable, and “stupid” is lethal.

Very mixed emotions here. As a libertarian I am very strongly pro-choice (in everything).

In this case people contribute to the Komen Foundation because they want their funds to find a cure for breast cancer. If Planned Parenthood spent 99% of their time doing free breast exams and 1% doing cervical exams Komen could, with logic, say all of their money must only go for breast cancer research and they were re-directing their funding to breast cancer researchers. Nothing whatsoever about abortions just truth in advertising.

Contributions to both are up, probably because of the noise. People will forget this in a couple months. It was probably collusion between the charities to get advertising and boost donations.

This was a case of politically-induced stupidity. I’m not sure that there’s a cure for that.

There are plenty of other organizations that do a much better and more efficient job of funding cancer research, cancer education and cancer screening, without all the ideological baggage of Komen. Goodbye, SGK Foundation, you will not be missed.

Treating a condition does not always result in a cure. Check out Diabetes for example. Also, some forms of cancer. Mine was treatable and my oncologist has called the result a cure.

Ignorance, the lack of information, is treatable, more easily than stupidity, which often has both environmental/learned and genetic/physical roots.
