I don’t find this political at all. It’s a matter of semantics, true skepticism and scientific research. It’s a matter of difference in though process given evidence. I personally feel that bear will have a lot of food.

No, Wiley, you always fail to apprehend that you ARE making editorial comments, or at least you consistently fail to acknowledge it. If the bear just wants to eat a human, he could have any number of traps set up to entice a fat male to come into his lair, but you CHOSE to utilize the thought process whereby a polar bear is calling global warming a “hoax” in order to create a trap for his prey.

Seeing as we are having some kind of sham global government meeting in Copenhagen and the recent hacked e-mail controversy floating in the public consciousness, this strip qualifies as editorializing, whether you like it or not.

Habanero: Wiley may fail to understand or appreciate that he is making an editorial comments. He does not apprehend (meaning capture). Therefore: a comic is just a comic. Quit reading between the lines to determine another’s political leanings, and learn to enjoy the humor.

some great posts! Let me add my little take on things. It is true the encroachment on natural habitats of WILD animals causes problems, but lets draw an analogy. Those who consider WILD animals WILD, lets say those are the literalists ie the ‘heartless’ conservative bunch. Whereas the liberals among us, don’t see a WILD animal, but a complex soul, a domesticated animal, but for the grace of God, trapped in a furry suit. (ok ok…not ALL wild animals have fur, to you ‘literalists’ of convenience on the left) Anyway, notice how that understanding the conservative ‘fringe’ lacks enables the human to transcend the limits of species…and communicate with our …er….WILD bretheren…..

Bdaysuit-interesting, because here in DC we have polar bears at the National Zoo. They seem to survive quite well in July and August, when the temperatures stay around 90 degrees, especially in August. Also, doesn’t it get warm in Alaska, although I’ll concede that it doesn’t last long. I guess that’s when they put their fur coats in the dry cleaners before winter sets in! <:-)

It’s funny because Global Warming Hoaxers won’t actually examine or review the evidence, they’ll just read the sign (or wait for Beck, Hannity, or Limbaugh to read it to them) and go to bed tonight and sleep soundly knowing in their hearts that the Right is RIGHT!

iantheevil-it is only “an extremely complex science” because the scientists conducting the research have “fudged the facts” which, as I said before, flies in the face of true scientific research. In true scientific research, a theory is to be developed; experiments are to be conducted to either PROVE OR DISPROVE that theory; and THEN conclusions are to be drawn. That process didn’t happen with the “Global Warming” theory. The theory was developed, and then evidence was manipulated to support the theory! (Reminds me of EVILution)

We’re just an experiment in progress - someone once said that there is no indication that intelligence is a survival trait. we’ll see if we make it. If not, Mother Nature will try something else.

The green house effect , (caused by gasses in the atmosphere) is what warms the world. With out it we’d be burnt crisp or freeze every 12 hours. It’s in balance now, like a teeter totter. If it gets unbalanced even by a little, it will tilt one way or the other. Both scenarios would be bad and should be prepared for, because we sure as heck are not going to stop pumping green house gasses into the air , at an ever increasing rate. I keep a fire extinguisher in the house, even though there is no proof I will ever have a fire…

I’m not too bothered by the whole global warming thing. We learned in biology that the planet used to be a lot hotter than it is now. That’s how we got all the oil (carboniferous period). We also learned that the atmosphere used to have a different gaseous make-up. So I figure if the world is getting warmer again, even if humans are contributing, the planet as a whole will adapt just fine. Of course, we may go the way of the dinosaurs in the process, but the majority of species either evolve or go extinct eventually anyway.

I refuse to consider the theory that everything taught to me in school is a government conspiracy of lies, in case anyone was thinking that.

Is it possible that the age of the mammals was just too short-lived? Not if that bear has anything to do with it!

Bugsy, thanks for the car pictures. I’d love to have an old T-Bird, too. I’ve always wondered why they turned it into a giant car.. It was fine the way it was.. Speaking of which, what is it about our culture that takes something almost perfect, and tries to make it better, thereby ruining it. That’s how we get MTV that doesn’t play music, Headline News that doesn’t do news headlines and a weather channel that hardly does weather anymore. Fortunately that never happened to the Mustang. It was affordable, got good millage, and was cool as hell…Great Mark Twain quote, dude.. I’ll paraphase it here for people who don’t want to go back to yesterday. I’d probably prefer heaven for the climate, but I’d prefer hell for the good company and conversation.

Thus, those who are predisposed not to believe in global warming are going to be wiped off the earth by the supposed effects of the process which they deny. That, my friend, is TAKING A POSITION. Wiley’s bears have always displayed a higher sense of intellect applied than the “intelligent” humans. These folks are unable to comprehend that bears I’ve known personally have definitely shown higher intellect than climate change deniers, cell phone using drivers (texting, hand held, or hands free), stock purchasers trusting “trustworthy” brokers like Madoff, war jumping neocons (WMDs my tush), or toy buyers at Christmas going nuts (literally) over the latest “must have” fad.Yep, preserve the right to arm bears!

We received 18 inches during our years first snowfall. CRAZY! (Wait a second, crazy weather patterns…perhaps there is something to this climate change stuff!) How can you be pro-pollution, anyways? The world has warmed six degrees since the glaciers 10,000 years ago, More than two, since the industrial age started a couple of hundred years ago. That’s a third of the warming in a fraction of the 10,000 years. You do the math. Personally, since climate change will change the weather patterns, and cause Michigan to have really cold and snowy winters, I’m all for it! I love winter!. Glad I’m not near lowlands where hurricanes happen though. I hate stackin’ sandbags…Hey, you raise the temperature on the pot of water, it boils more violently. Hurricanes are the bubbles…But, hey, no big whoop…..

Big mistake. You are assuming that climate change deniers are interested in science or proof. They believe getting cold in the winter disproves global warming. (While global warming actually just means an average rise of a couple of degrees which also will result in more heavy snow storms.)
