I believe that the many debates is due to the tea party wing being dissatisfied with not having a suitably conservative nominee last time. These many debates are meant to weed out pretenders. I approve. We need to hear our politicians pit their ideas against one another more often not less. Now, if we could only get the electorate more passionate about listening….
True, but I’d rather get the tantrums thrown on the campaign trail so I can know who we’re dealing with than be suprized by them after being voted into office. It’s like the pressure put on recruits in basic training: Better to have the unbalanced blow a gasket in boot camp than in the arena where such actions have mortal consequences.

If the election cycle is going to be this long then there should be this many debates. I would rather see a shorter campaign cycle.
