A rough estimate of American voters could be expressed as 40% who will always vote for a candidate on the left, 40% will always vote to the right, an 20% who can be swung either way. The strategy is not only to solidify as much of your 40% as possible, but to convince the 20% that you are the better choice (or lesser evil). A candidate who is too much to the left or right will lose because the 20% tend to vote more moderate. This is why the DNC strategists are preparing for Romney and not Gingrich as Obama’s opponent. Newt is too far to the right. The primaries have served the purpose of getting Mitt’s dirty laundry out early, so they can have rebuttals ready for October and November. I don’t think the RNC is stupid enough to let Gingrich actually win the nomination, because that would be like handing the election right to Obama. Only Romney and Cain really have a fighting chance, as they did not try to out-conservative each other, and Cain has already pulled out.

The RNC can have an open convention and nominate anyone they want.

“Open” also means free to leave at any time. Newt’s interpretation indeed.

It was already well known that Obama’s father had more than one marriage, but he is not running for president on the “family values” party ticket. If you want to go there, why not look up the testimony of Maj. General Smedley Parker when he went before congress to reveal that Senator Prescott Bush ( the father of GHW and grandfather of GW Bush) approached him about carrying out a military coup against FDR in 1934 in order to install a Nazi/fascist government in the US. It’s known as the business plot, and it is also well known that P. Bush was a shareholder and financier of several companies that funded Hitler and the Nazis.Just saying that the sins of the father have no bearing on the son.

Onguard: We don’t pick our parents. But what does what Obama’s dad did have to do with anything? Or his mom? Ask Sasha and Malia about THEIR parents.

“Family values Newt” has the “family values” of German Shepherd, or maybe a foxhound, running loose, constantly splashing in a sea of hypocrisy, Now THAT should be a problem, especially with the “religious right”. Which is exactly what again defines that those “religious right” seem to be neither.

I comment way too much on USA politics, as I am not a USA resident. However, it does strike me as incongruous that a leading Republican candidate is of public character that would horrify Republicans were he a Democrat. Please explain.
