I, for one, am glad Calvin isn’t behind the wheel.

That boy has his head in the clouds all the time.

I like this day dream of his. Even now, there are times when I wish we could get there faster.

Shoot, I wish I could drive like that.

I love the freedom and like minded cohesion. The perfect (road) trip.

We’ll get there in just another short eternity.

all those sci-fi movies from the 1950’s lied to us. we should all have flying cars by now. let’s get with it, gm.

the jetsons promised us flying cars by 2000. it is 2012, where is the flying car?

At least Calvin’s dad doesn’t drive hunched over the wheel, cursing at other drivers, more concerned about “making good time” than about enjoying the trip. I bet if he needed a pee break Dad would even find a place to stop before the carpet got wet! (Issues? Why yes—thank you for asking.)

This is how I drive every day.

When I was little, we would go to D.C. to visit my aunt, cousin, and grandmother. My dad would curse at the other drivers when we got on the freeway. Learned a bunch of swear words that way! Don’t get me wrong, my dad was a wonderful man, just not a patient driver.

@affcionado, in answer to your question to @Margueritem—no, anytime during Lent is not too early (but anytime between the Monday after Easter and the next Shrove Tuesday is).

While growing up in Michigan my sister, brother and I couldn’t ride from Davison to Goodrich “Google” 13 minutes or 8.6 miles without fighting.Now I live in Southern New Mexico and I drive further then that just to get to town. I used to tell my children if the trip wasn’t over a hundred miles I didn’t want to hear any fighting…

@capndunzzlI’ve just read your comment from yesterday. I’m not sure if you’ll see this today. But I did leave you a message about a month ago about the Patrick McGoohan film and the Blood Donation. How long have you been a Blood Donor for? I’ve only just started as you may have seen in my Bio.

I really hope you see this today. I don’t want you to think I’ve been ignoring you.

Remember when cars didn’t have air conditioning? You’d open the little triangular windows to direct a blast of air at you.

The artwork here is nothing less than amazing. Watterson’s artistic skills still blow away anything currently gracing the funny pages.

I really miss these strips, as I was always amazed at the artwork as well as the humor. I wish Mr. Watterson would come out of retirement!

Dad’s car has that special optional feature from the factory called “Calvin Superfly Overdrive”. Bigtime tough on the suspension when you land, though….
