There was a health insurance company in California that got caught having denied 100% of all claims. Why is it such a big fight to get rid of these parasites?

Obamacare? Not even. This death panel is tempered in their drive to cut costs by the possibility of civil or criminal repercussions. The Obamastassi death panel will have no such concerns – they will be able to save a LOT more money than the current private system can.

What a bunch of suckers! You actually think the govt will do a better job of running healthcare? At least with an insurance company, you can choose whether or not to participate – not so with govt programs! Nothing is ever cheaper or more efficient when Uncle Sam takes it over.

I talked with a doctor in Ireland. The government pays him to do 30 procedurs a month. He can do about 50. So if you are number 31 on the list, you get to wait until next month or you can go to the head of the queue if you have private insurance.

As long as insurance companies are publicly traded their responsibility will be to the share holders not the policy holders.If everybody would just cancel their insurance we could force some real change on the system.

it’s your choice to go for medically insured care, TriCare (for us military types), and/or an HMO. no one forces you. obamacare, on the other hand gives you a “fine” if you don’t choose from their lists. good luck if you’re a holistic fan.

Wouldn’t it be more efficient to just computerize the whole thing? I can write a program to stamp ‘NO’ on every page in 10 minutes or less!

Everybody wants this perfect system that does not and cannot exist. A health care system that denies no one and costs no one and everybody gets the same equally excellent care. People study for years to be health care providers. I had the grades and the time. I didn’t want any part of it. I guess if people were compelled to do things based on apptitude testing at an early age, and then compelled to provide these services for the same days wage that everyone else receives…a system like that just might work.

The “must buy private” is BOEHNERCARE, not single payer or “Obamacare”. The Republican “private insurer” has lots of reapers, but no seamstresses to sew Bucky back together again. As to giving 99 year olds liver and heart transplants, is that “sane” policy? Elective procedures like “tummy tucks”, and boob jobs do require “supplemental insurance” to cover in many systems, but real medical needs are met rather well. The real horror story is Blue Cross and other “private providers”, not single payer.

The only reason the insurance companies can get away with a policy of pre-emptively denying every claim (OK, it’s not quite that bad, but it’s pretty close at times) is that the individual doesn’t get to choose his/her insurance company. Rather, for most Americans, that choice is made by your employer, whose sole criterion is minimum price. Never mind if another insurance company can deliver twice the service for ten percent more money; all the employer cares about is the premium. And the best way for an insurer to minimize cost to its customer (that is, your employer) is to deny as many claims as possible. What ya gonna do if you don’t like it? Get another job? Good luck with that!.If you really believe in the power of the Free Market (Adam Smith’s “invisible hand”), then you should support doing away with employer-chosen health insurance.

There is a simple solution: change “province” to “state” and “Canada” to “United States” and pass Tommy Douglas’ version of Medicare.

OK short lesson: The government gets it money from you and me. If you want government health care you pay for it. I pay for my own. Yes it’s very expensive but if the government controls health care guess what? No competition = they charge you and pay the doctors what ever they want.I say the cartoon shows the truth by who ever controls the purse string…

This isn’t really about “death panels”; it’s for all claims. I just went through an illness and it took four months to get all the charges settled. 90% of every transaction was wrong and had to be corrected. It’s an entire industry based on foot-dragging and incompetence.

the reason that health care costs skyrocketed was insurance companies. the ones that were supposed to keep costs manageable. it fast became a catch 22.

My wife needs treatment for her leukemia, but – surprise! The insurance company has changed her “client number” so she needs to get approval – again – before they’ll let her be treated.And we found this out TODAY when she’s scheduled for a treatment TOMORROW.Love them HMOs.

Yeah if you want to pay 70% of your income in taxes go live in the UK.

Seems my retirement medical insurance has cut out the middle man/woman/person. A bank is now making the decisions. And just the other day I got a letter telling me that the bank didn’t consider the proposed surgery as being medically necessary. Funny, several of my doctors (not just the surgeon on the case) said it would be very beneficial to my health. And, since Medicare, my primary insurance, won’t give pre-approvals, and now my secondary insurance (Wells Fargo) apparently, doesn’t see it as medically necessary, either I come up with $5400 of my own money (approximately a total of four months of Social Security benefits and miniscule retirement benefits), I won’t be having this beneficial surgery. Oh well, I’m an old lady . . .next time I fall on my face, it will probably kill me anyway. Why bother trying to prevent it or help me live a low-quality life style in the meantime.

My in-laws had excellent care in England — both had several bouts with cancer. If Mum (who took care of Dad) had to be hospitalized, Dad was hospitalized along with her. If she needed transport to the hospital or doctor’s office, a car was sent out for her, waited for her at the office, and took her back home. For this neither of them ever received a bill.

Comments from conservatives always show me that they are a waste of protein, and contaminate our environment. I’m not sure I like them breathing our air…

Again, Obamacare has not even started yet. Chill!
