The battle with Terkoz as drawn by Hogarth is fantastic. DC Comics reprinted it in the 1970’s in their giant size Tarzan comic.

More like a symbol of ‘a man’s’ superiority.

The way Burroughs writes the fights with the various apes and Tarzan in the books is wonderful. The struggle to get the apes into a full nelson and the pressure on their necks when Tarzan strains is done very well. Tarzan kills a lion in a similar fashion in one of the early books, when it is trying to get into the window of his cabin.
