And the best part? All of those things listed by Ramirez are certifiable, tangible facts. And the sad part? The first 2 years of his presidency he had an undefeatable supermajority. So… it could have been different. I guess hind sight is 20/20

Obviously, the voters need a SANITY TEST for elected presidents ( & vice presidents)…with annual exams as follow-ups.IMO there is NO “optimism” in considering this term in the White House.

Obama’s biggest mistake was to attempt to work with the Republicans during his first two years.

“…this economy and suffering, all real, all serious, are Obama’s fault, and he didn’t inherit it…” The economy problems were DECADES in the making. Until laws are changed, US will struggle. You have done a good job of being loyal to Mr. President, but let’s not reelect him.

Merely illustrating the horrible hand he was dealt. And amid the misery, he’s still a better bet than any of the GOP clowns.

All presidents get the blame or glory of what happens while they are in office. Sometimes it is like the changing of the tides; there is no speeding things up or slowing them down. Eg. Obama probably had little to do with the killing of Osama yet he is given credit. Probably has little to do with the crappy economy, but he is given the credit. It’s the nature of the job.

Odon is another typical clueless voter. The first 2 years of Prez O had a supermajority in both Senate and House in which no Republican votes were needed for anything!

Obama never made any boast of the kind, nor does he show hubris to half the extent of any president since Carter. This cartoon is an attempt to demonize a guy who actually is an excellent and modest president. But you can’t run against that, so conservatives feel they need to bear false witness. Show some character.

Nothing like a little modification of phraseology to change the message and make conservatives go off in their pants. .Obama did not say he was the fourth best president ever. He was, however, comparing his accomplishments his first two or three years in office to other presidents in their first years in office..Should be easy to understand for all but the most ham-fisted intellectuals and cartoonists.

Yes, bad hand and obstructionists in congress. How does one overcome 30-40 years of republican mismanagement in only 3 years? He’d done much better then the republican’ts can stand.

I’ll vote for him in 2012. Far superior to anything the elephant crew has to offer.

What on earth is this talk about an undefeatable “supermajority” in congress? That’s nuts, or else there are a lot of innumerate people here. The Democrat majority in the Senate was (with the addition of the Independents) 59 to the Republican 41, and in the House of Representatives had 235 to 199 Republicans — at no point was that ever enough to prevent a Republican filibuster. And this was a fact that the Republicans exploited to the max, since it is a matter of record that the number of Republican led filibusters absolutely skyrocketed to never-before-seen heights in the 110th and 111th Congressional seasons. The Democrats could try to invoke cloture (and did), but could not prevent legislation being often fatally delayed and blocked.

Check out the analysis at NewsJunkie. Obama’s biggest mistake was in his constant attempts to appease or compromise with Republicans — the party who didn’t care how much they hurt the American public, as long as they could make Obama appear to fail.

Ah yes, reality is just “excuses” to the cons…. Accuracy is also not really a key concept for the so-called “conservatives” this days, either, it seems. Jobs created under Bush in eight full years: 1 million Jobs created under Obama in 2010 alone: 1.1 million …Most of the jobs which have been lost in that time period were also public-sector jobs, the so-called ‘overpaid’ and ‘useless’ ones that Republicans seem so keen on cutting; funny how the employment numbers still get pinned on Obama. http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/01/07/137866/obama-more-jobs-bush/ The numbers are what the numbers are. These things are again a matter of record. Your opinions do not fight facts. Obama inherited a great steaming pile of mess. He could have done better on a lot of it, but considering what he had to work with, he’s done a lotmore good than the vicious Republican sods who seem to have declared war on the working middle class.

Record of bills which were filibustered where cloture was attempted (does not include bills which were filibustered and were simply dropped, no cloture attempted):http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/reference/cloture_motions/111.htm…Notice the number of “Failed” and “Withdrawn.”That is what it looks like when filibuster is used for pure obstructionism. The Republicans do not have the best interests of this country at heart, it seems like. They are so consumed with hatred for the current president that they don’t have any problem with simply lying about him, and would rather see all progress fail, rather than give the guy any credit at all. That’s just shameful. Seriously, it really is just shameful. How many “good Christians” are here busy ignoring “Thou shalt not bear false witness”? And how many are busy hating their fellow citizens?

Let’s add some clarity to your data here, Lynne. Because yes, there were a lot of bills that were voted on party lines because the republicans were attempting to halt the steamroller of the supermajority. To bypass a fillabuster, you need 60 votes in the senate. Last I checked, for about 2 years the democrats held 60 seats. So… what’s the problem? Like I said, they had to win over their own party to get the votes they needed. And let’s add a bit more clarity to your complaint that there were a lot of “withdrawn’s”. Many of them were withdrawn and attempted again. 2009 had 4 nominees withdrawn. And in all of 2009, they only had 4 bills fail. And inside those “fails” of 2009, we see votes like this one: Oct 15 S.1776 Medicare Physicians Fairness Act of 2009 motion to proceed Reid Oct 21 47 – 53 No. 325 F They couldn’t even get their own party to agree to it. Then in 2010, when they still held 60 seats for most of the year, many of the “fails” that you see don’t even have that many votes for the bills. In fact, over half the “fails” of 2010 didn’t have 59 votes for. Don’t go pointing fingers at republicans for “obstructing” when you can’t even muster enough votes from your own party. In addition, on many of these bills, what were the people’s thoughts on it? Hm? Obamacare passed on party lines. And what were the people saying? “We don’t want this.” And what were we being told? “Once we pass it, we can find out what’s in it.” That’s a load of CRAP. You should know what’s in a bill before you pass it, for pete’s sake. So the “obstruction” you witnessed by not only the republicans, but also some democrats, was them responding to the will of the people. Y’know, doing their jobs. Yes, Obama inhereted a difficult situation. I’ll give you that. But he didn’t have the common sense to put a halt to the crazy, out-of-control spending spree, and he instead put pedal to metal. I am very upset with Bush as a matter of his last couple years. He set the precedent for “too big to fail.” And Obama picked up that torch. Obama promised us that he would bring in a new era of bipartisanship, and instead he has been the most divisive president in history. People either love him or hate him. There’s very little “luke warm” about him. What about that clarity and transparency he promised? When Obamacare was passed, the public didn’t have enough time to read through it and vet it. Neither did congress. As far as I’m concerned, Obama lied to us. He has been an absentee landlord, and has been the most unqualified person for the position ever to hold the title of President of the United States. Don’t place this at the feet of the republicans for doing what they are paid to do: Listen to their constituents.
