Let’s just pray Dick’s family doesn’t get any ideas about going to Circe Du Soleil.

Nice art, by the way. Lots of detail, lotta layers to the scene, what with there being people in the foreground, middle, and background, and people indoors and outdoors. Not a panel a lazy artist would attempt to draw.

Wow! Awesome to see the Tracy and Catchem families! And, is that Pat with his wife, Toby Townley? I wonder if we’ll get to see Bonnie Braids (Dick and Tess’ first child) too.

Learned something new. I didn’t know Catchem was Jewish.

It’s funny, but after all the fist fights, chases and gunplay it’s always scenes like today’s strip that I remember years later.

Thanks for the Christmas/Channuka scenes, guys! I remember these from Gould. And the absence of such is the first thing I remember from Locher.

As we celebrate the Holidays at the Catchems, look for an old friend (not seen since the 1950’s) to show up Thursday.

Is that Joe hanging back with Honeymoon and Sparkle Jr/Jewel*?

Is Jewel’s red hair a colorist’s mistake, or has she always inherited her ftaher’s hair coloring?

ok, from the front door is Dick and Tess, then Junior and Sparkle, Joe Tracy, in the back is Honeymoon.. but who’s the redheaded kid? Is that Sparkle Jr? And its good to hear Bonnie Braids will be coming back. Last time I saw her was when Joe was born.

@ Tom: “I didn’t know Catchem was Jewish.”

That’s an interesting story. According to Jay Maeder’s book about Dick Tracy, Chester Gould had a trusted friend and business agent named Al Loewenthal. He had a knobby nose and freckles, and in the late 40’s, he was asking Gould to put a Jewish character in the strip. So, Gould came up with Sam Catchem, who was more or less the spitting image of his friend Al. In the early days, Sam used to say “Oi Yi” alot, and he carried deli sandwiches in his overcoat pocket. Right from the start, Sam was a very likable character, with a droll sense of humor. He was up on modern police procedure, and dependable at all times. I’ve always liked Sam.

Glad to see Joe Staton on a strip worthy of his talents! One legend deserves another! Happy holidays!
