Do the employers obey federal law when they hire illegals? Who’s really at fault here?

It’s all about supply and demand. As long as businesses knowingly hire illegal immigrants, the illegals will find a way to come here. Punish said businesses with severe penalties. When the demand for cheap illegal immigrant labor dries up, the supply will as well.

Actually, the “feds” do a pretty good job, considering the money wasted on a stupid fence could have been better spent on manpower, and running the organization that “Homeland Security” and 33 new departments totally screwed up! Let’s turn a 100 miles swath around Salt Lake City into a “no man’s land” of mines, barbed wire, and kill zones, like the Mormon Moron in Congress wants for along the Canadian and Mexican borders. Don’t you just love that “red” state legislators can’t read the Constitution and want to turn the country into a Communist style terror state where all residents, and citizens live in terror from an oppressive “government” of THEIR design (using “Christian” principles of “Sharia” of course!!).

p.s. BTW, the guy in the pickup us a 23rd generation born in the land that is the U.S.A., and an elected member of Congress. Right, no “discrimination” based on “appearance” at all in these bills.

It still amazes me that our federal government punishes states for enforcing federal law. How sick is that?

Yes,and despite the conservative ravings , this administration has been stricter, and better at sending illegals home than the last administration. Of course Reagan would probably sign another amnesty bill if he were alive and in the White House now.

Everyone is arguing about the states rights and of course I have my opinions regarding that but the big thing no one is mentioning is actual reform to the immigration system. They have it where it is almost impossible to enter this country legally unless you have a fairly staggering amount of money.

Makes more sense than spending more than the entire NASA budget ($18B) to air condition tents in Afghanistan ($20B)

Not at all. The conservative rants here have been almost completely fact free. The government is doing much better than previous Republicans at keeping illegals out and deporting them, but since that doesn’t fit Fox’s narrative, Republicans unfortunately are left looking like idiots. Poor Alamaba (especially its farmers and meat processors) is learning that if you listen to conservatives, you find that the real-world consequences are really dire.

I can rebuild a two-stroke, four-stroke, or turbine, but it doesn’t change the fact that several southwest representatives in Congress can trace their ancestry back to way before the “Mayflower jerks”, and they WOULD be stopped by cops under these xenophobic laws. Now the fact that “libs” are upset because Obama’s Justice Dept. and ICE are sending more “illegals” back than Bush ever did? We do NOT need to sacrifice all environmental regulations to “secure” the border. On the Mexican side, the desert does it for us. BTW, at Big Bend, they finally are installing a “self-service” station for people who for decades crossed the border for commerce before “idiot shrub” cracked down on a non-existent “problem”. THAT is an example of “intelligence”.

    Eryx,

Uh, no! There is nothing unconstitutional about Arizona’s law. If the people who were coming over the border illegally were Norwegians, who do you think we’d most suspect of being an illegal immigrant? Why someone with blond hair and blue eyes of course!! Well, the fact is that almost all of the people entering the country illegally over the southern border are Hispanic. So who do you think is the most reasonable group of people to examine for illegal immigrants? If you said Africans, Asians, or Europeans, then I’m afraid that you are stupid beyond help. Hispanics, particularly in the states along the southern border are the group of people where you are most likely to find illegal immigrants among. But, of course, you liberals are highly allergic to common sense.

I have seen some people making a VERY GOOD POINT. It is not enough to send back the illegals. Law enforcement needs to crack down on those hiring illegals and creating demand for their labor. I don’t think you can ignore the illegals, but I agree that diminishing the demand is a good place to start.
