Actually, the days as measured by the apparent movement of the Sun around the Earth are getting longer until perihelion, 2012-01-05. It’s just the period when the Sun is above the horizon north of the Tropic of Cancer that is getting shorter. Next January 5th, remember to wish your friends happy anomalistic year.
