“The Pit and the Pendulum!”Ya gotta love the classics, but I think it’s a Poe excuse for Abner’s creativity.By the Way – I respect Abner’s refusal to name his employer; it’s “mad doctor-client confidentiality.”

Is Tracy wriggling his way out of those bindings? How long has Abner had this setup ready?

How fiendish and fortunate. If he just put a bullet in Tracy’s head, the strip would be finished.

However … the colorist forgot to color the hand blue/gray.

If Vera ends up saving the day, Tracy will never hear the end of it….

Tracy is putting the kiss of death on himself,“been in death traps before”; like the sports announcer, “He hasn’t missed a putt from this distance all week.”

Hope Tracy’s tetanus shot is up to date.

Margy Christmas, thanks for teaching me a new word. It’s going to be a challenge to use it three times today, though.

Ahhh…I should have known. The word is in the actual Poe story! Not having read it since I was twelve, though. Told ya my memory is failing me!

Hmm.. I will have to place surcingle up there with, my other horse related word, tantivy.What, you never wondered why they yelled it three times before saying “a hunting we will go”?I think that Kadaver is smart enough to have removed a certain device from Mr. Tracy before strapping him to the table. He probably learned it from watching Batman.“You are helpless without your utility belt aren’t you Batsy?”. He probably picked up his monologing lines from there as well.

Interesting choice of heroes, Kadaver… the writers for their movies prolly mined old adventure comics like “DT” for their trap scenes.

My guess is Vera Alldid gets himself killed saving Tracy and manages to kill Kadaver as well.
