I could see that happening on day 1 of the invasion. So much for our brilliant leaders. That entire area is just one vast toilet swallowing our money. It will never change.

One would think a sovereign nation should be able to determine whether US troops would be allowed to stay or not (unless we want to declare war on them again). Wait, we didn’t do that the first time, did we? Besides, wasn’t this negotiated back in 2008? url=http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5312795/ns/world_news-mideast_n_africa/t/us-transfers-sovereignty-iraq-days-early/url=http://www.cfr.org/iraq/us-security-agreements-iraq/p16448

final version shows significant concessions from the U.S. side. For instance, the Bush administration agreed to a total withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of 2011.[/quote]

Who was president at that time?

So, in 2020 when Iraq, Libya and Egypt are all Sharia loving Iran clones, will Obama be vilified for it in the press?

Bush DID agree to pull out by the end of this year, by “contract”. The right-wingers in the military industrial complex opposed this. Now that we’re actually trying to END the killing, and let nations run themselves, that’s “bad”?

It should be noted that WE are the ones who put in the doggie door, and have spent decades whacking that dog with a stick instead of trying to make it a “friend”. Extremist overt and false propaganda is not limited to “them”.

The Iraqis want us out (we are apparently wearing out our welcome as “liberating heroes”). We want to get out. That’s more than enough reason to leave.

This is why Bush the smarter stopped before going to Bagdad. His son was no where near clever enough, and had really bad advisors. (Note that many of them, including the guy who put the “yellow cake uranium” lie in the State of the Union address, are now working for the Romney campaign. There is no mistake big enough to cause Republicans to fire you, I guess.
