I still use my VHS, but not so much since I can get most of the shows on Time Warner Free On Demand Channels.

I’d like to know how to record on VHS now. I haven’t been able to since our cable provider went all digital. All that records is the sound.

My mom loved Lawrence Welk, but would have had no clue how to use anything other than her tv set to view it.

I can go you betamax guys one better. I bought a Motorola X format which came our at the same time as the betamax. The X format used one inch tape verses betamax 3/4 inch so it stored more data thus a clearer picture. However, because Sony marketing was so strong the Motorola recorder was history after about a year on the market. It’s still in my son’s garage gathering dust along with my brand new 8 track player and library of cartridges.

I have three VCRs. Two Are DVD/VCR combos. Have lots of tapes, stocked up over the years. NOW I have an HDTV and I CANNOT record off it. It has NO audio/video output. It has a Bajillion inputs but no outputs. Well it does have one audio out…it’s Optical! Does a lot of good(?). Should have tested the Digital C——p longer before they foisted it on to consumers. I had 2 digital converter boxes which within 13 months were in the trash. I have over the air reception now which isn’t to bad …until it gets windy (5mph+) OR the sun messes it up, then it’s pixel city or “no signal available” Oh well there isn’t much on T.V. now days anyway.

You aren’t kidding! We have 3 brand new which I doubt will ever get used. Due to a bunch of technical cable issues, we ended up getting a DVR through our Comcast. The VCR still works great, just no use for it anymore. And 3 unused tapes. Sigh!

I wish my dad was around to see this one. That’s him all over. I’ve only ever seen one “Have Gun Will Travel” because it had the misfortune to be on opposite Welk on Saturday nights. Looking through my dad’s tapes I find the PBS shows at the end of many tapes.
