Calvin’s imagination gets the best of him once again.

Love that ear-to-ear grin of Hobbes. So proud of himself.

General LeMay’s career also encompassed the development of the Strategic Air Command, the Vietnam War, and candidacy for Vice President. On of the most colorful and sometimes controverial Americans of the 20th Century.

<< On Thursday, JusSayin jus’ said: “@Hobbes: I don’t remember seeing Snoopy’s name on the front of the house, say when Schulz showed people approaching the front to do some work in the house, or even when good old Charlie Brown would serve him dinner.” >>Hi JusSayinI’ve posted a reply over at the Peanuts forum this morning, along with several strips from the 1950s.

Be prepared for a counter attack, Hobbes. That was an act of war.

Nice shootin’, Tex – I mean, Hobbes.

And Curtis LeMay … I remember him well. I guess I didn’t really need to be reminded that I’m an old fart.

As a junior Captain, I attended a party in the early sixties that Curtis LeMay attended. He excelled at that game where one person tries to keep a straight face while others attempt to make him laugh, and he was particularly formidable as a laugh-maker.

I’ve spent enough time on the Net to read Calvin’s last line and think, “I see what you did there.”

The hand grenades harmlessly bounce off Calvin’s impenetrable head. Calvin must be Stupendous (Man)!

If they were playing Calvinball, Hobbes would drop a cone and announce, “Here’s the ‘pitch’!”

“Bonk” is a bit of hyperbole for a pine cone hit on the head!

Barry Goldwater for President (with his VietNam speech) and Curtis LeMay for VP. Lets see if the old coots remember the speech phrase that lost Goldwater the presidential election (among other things). And yes Goldwater was correct about the Viet Nam war. From an old coot.
