People like Matt don’t seem to understand that both states created jobs by making a business-friendly environment. Obama seems to think Government can crate jobs by hiring people and spending money. And that’s all the difference in the world.
Texas created jobs by using stimulus funds to hire people. A big part of the boost that Perry brags about was police and teachers, all government jobs; which are disappearing now that the GOP has ruled out another stimulus. A lot of it was oil and gas jobs too, which government doesn’t have much control over — oil companies don’t use leases unless there’s a good price for oil. But when some lying Republican says that government can’t create jobs, try canceling a defense department contract in their district and see how they squeal.
