Okay, our hospital got stimulus money to improve and expand needed services. Our schools got a grant from stimulus to utilize geothermal, which will pay back in short time and save huge amounts in the future. Austerity would have been NOT extending the “Bush tax cuts”, and immediately pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and shipping Gitmo prisoners to a secure facility on the mainland- easy to do. (Gitmo btw IS a perpetual lease to the U.S., and therefore “U.S. territory”)
If the government is to provide everything to everybody, then it must first take everything. Some people are a little clueless on that point. Before you redistribute the wealth, make sure sure there is wealth to redistribute. So many jobs have left the USA that there isn’t that much individual wealth remaining.
