Might want to do a little checking into how many MORE people would have been unemployed without the stimulus, but righties can’t find that line. Police, construction workers (yes I DID see some of those projects working) and others who were kept afloat. That included a good many “private sector” jobs as well. But whatever we do, we sure can’t talk about taxing anyone at “pB”(pre-Bush) levels!

Finally! An editorial cartoon that does not (yet) have right wing"underinformed voters" spewing venomous postings. In the last two years, I have driven in 16 states and I saw stimulus road work projects in each and every one, even Texas. The first stimulus project DID work! What this cartoon and those “underinformed voters” neglect to consider is the graph of jobs gained and lost monthly from 2008 to present. The discrepancy between the republican talking points and the monthly job gain/loss is so great that perhaps it is more accurate to call those right wing posters “misinformed voters.” I must admit that contrary to my official intellectual attitude that ‘we are all in this together’ and ‘everyone has some goodness in them’, I have often called these people by some other terms. that would probably be considered inapproriate here.

Bless you dtroutma and clark Kent.

@LozerIn addition to the stimulus Obama and the Democrats tried to pass four bills that would remove the tax breaks that are given to corporations whenever they outsource. Guess which party used the filibuster to prevent the Democrats from achieving their goal, which would have brought down unemployment below 8%?

The CBO thought the first one did some good. It may not have been as efficient or effective as it could have been, but hey, youse learns from youse mistakes.

Lying is such an inaccurate way to describe the gut-wrenching effort made by Republicans to make sure their country and the economy failed in every avenue possible. If Republicans were ACTUALLY patriotic and wanted the country to succeed, and if the Corporate thugs were similarly incentivized, unemployment WOULD have stayed under 8%.
