Flask is as sadistic as Linda is busty.

And the point of torturing poor Linda is to waste time so they fail to stop the launch and all the underground cities are discovered, right? Right??

She’s got a mighty trim tummy, so it’s hard to say. Aaron might just draw females that way, as Flask isn’t exactly flat as a board either.

Wow, if I was paralyzed I wouldn’t want that face looking down at me like that. Flask looks crazed. Also, the last panel shows without a doubt that Flask had been on the top of that PT at least long enough to hear the Topsiders introduce Wally and Holly to one of their former ‘winners’ of the brain-to-gun transplant.

lol and I didn’t notice until BikeN mentioned, but Linda is rather perky for lying on her back. Maybe the Topsider suits have a built in garter belt/bra?

Wow. I mean, I knew Flask was cold, but… wow.

Flask puts the “Sad” in Sadistic. That is one Kitty in need of some major psycho therapy and a few rounds of ECS therapy to boot as well. I have a feeling Wally and Holly are a little freaked by Flask’s behavior.

wow…intense! chill cw its just a comic!……i’m really starting to kinda hate Flask…but that’s part of the point isnt it? Will Wally step up on this one? Can’t imagine him not, Flask caught him off gaurd on the last one…….the point is, Flask is damaged and insane. It’s made her heartless.

Flask is being sadistic (and more than just a tad unhinged), but I don’t think the strip goes too far at all. What I like about End Town is that it goes much farther than many comics dare to go – but doesn’t go beyond to the point of tastelessness. I’ve seen much worse. Her behavior is unsettling, but it’s not a surprise, given how she’s been up to this point. Actually, I can see the Topsider personality in her especially now – the hatred, resentment, utter lack of empathy even when the enemy is weak, helpless and pleading for mercy. I think the others may be right when they said that Flask could have been a Topsider before this – and has some very bad blood towards them. However, it also makes me realize that she seems to hate all of them as a whole as opposed to (assuming that the theory that she was betrayed is correct) any particular person(s). If she was betrayed, I would think her venom would have more direction unless it’s eaten at her so hard that it’s consumed her into hating everyone.Also, this is the first time that any of the Topsiders have shown any kind of behavior that would make them sympathetic. I actually do feel sorry for Linda, now. I don’t think Wally and Holly are going to let Flask continue this for long.

especially because the reason she “knows” Linda is that she sees herself in Linda. Self hatred at its worst.

The Topsiders’ guns have brains, and they’re apparently not meant to work when a non-Topsiders tries to use them. Could it be they will only respond if they detect cruel and aggressive thoughts in their owner? That would explain why Flask keeps herself in that cold, nasty frame of mind and why the gun works for her.

In other words, they are weapons that can only be used for evil.

Flask… two wrongs don’t make a right, But revenge is a dish served cold.

Sorry, but I have no real problem with Flask so far in this scenario. This is nothing more than sauce for the goose. The shoe is on the other foot now and, if Linda is capable of change, a little taste of what she and Doug were so gleefully dispensing may be the only hammer big enough to knock some sense into her. By channeling her “inner Topsider” Flask is acting as a mirror for Linda. For her sake let’s hope she is properly repulsed by what she sees.

…I think Aaron is making a point.In most modern literature and movies the violence between the good guys and the bad guys is either the same,or the good guys are better at said violence.Isn’t what is supposed to make the good guys good is that they act good??Today ,good means being good at kicking butt.The moral’s of the character more and more are becoming meaningless.

Could it be that you all are right? Flask is being abominable. Flask is merely giving Linda the same treatment she was just dishing out. Flask hates Topsiders. Flask hates everyone. Flask hates herself. Flask is good because she’s being awful on our side. Flask is evil for the same reason. Isn’t it amazing that a four panel, black and white (and gray) newspaper-style comic strip can be so complex?

Topsider suits look like they’re always witnessing horror. I wonder if that was intentional by their designers.

I don’t feel any sympathy for Linda. She was about to very casually remove the brains of walking, talking sentient beings and now Flask is going to make her understand before she goes. Psycho or not, Flask is the kind of person this situation needs. Holly and Wally are too soft. Remember, Wally went easy on that topsider who turned right around and zapped his rescuer.

Yeah, Flask is… a little obsessed. Like Linda is.. a little busty. :)Lots to think about. We are still missing some key information, and are just speculating at this point. I do expect Wally to step in Monday though.Good reminder about the Jackrabbit cult forming up back at “home”. And eerie coincidence about today’s Gene Catlow strip, going in similar lines. The moment you say it’s for “our survival”, all kinds of justifications pop up…

Aaron— What an incredible job with this! You must have entered into some real darkness to pull this out of your soul. I took a tour once of the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC. The docent told the story of a singer who had received great acclaim for playing Mephistopheles (the Devil character in Gounod’s “Faust”). He used to need two full days to recover from the performance. Be careful, man. We need you here!

And again the weak are bemoaning the actions of the strong. Haven’t you people ever heard of interrogation? You can bet she is softening up Linda for extraction of the info they need. You people wouldn’t last a day in this world. Great work Aaron, this strip is a tour-de-force.

Actually, Wally has put himself into this bind on his own. Opening Linda’s suit is tantamount to killing her, which Wally doesn’t want. Knocking her out and opening the suit is no guarantee she’ll be an anthro, and even if she is, it’s against everything she believes in, meaning Wally won’t condone it. Killing her now means shooting her in cold blood, which Wally is also against. Stunning her again means she recovers midway through the mission. Tying her up and leaving her there means she can easily use her suit to get free. As soon as she has control of her voice, she can order the blaster to notify base of the intruders, while taking the blaster with them means carrying a GPS that’ll give away their location. The only out I see is throwing her in the back of the PT and stunning her as soon as she shows signs of movement. At some point Wally may regret using only the stun setting.

I haven’t been reading this comic long — maybe a month. Does it reflect badly on me that Flask is my current favorite character?

I’m with you Flask fans…though I like Holly too (the one truly good-hearted individual in the whole story). I’m rather hoping that Aaron’s next thread is a little back-story on what really made Flask what she is. I’m sure there’d be a lot of twists we haven’t considered. Yeah, she’s a little deranged…but she’s not exactly wrong either, considering what the TSers do. Spitting it all back at Linda just before taking a permanent “correcctive action” is just fine by me. It’s just a little justification for what’s to come. I’m sure Blackie doesn’t care if Linda repents her previous actions or not. It’ll be just one less evil in a world loaded with it.

Capt Flask – the definitive CATWOMAN!

Remember this is the same individual that was so gleeful, not long ago, to be lopping off Holly’s head. Maybe Linda will recognize that same sadistic glee in Flask, and realize that the mutants are “human” after all.

And the most frustrating part of it all is having to wait until Monday to see how this all turns out.

Somehow, somewhere, she lost her composure and is going nuts now. The last time she went topside, she acted in complete control and looked totally shell-shocked when she killed a TS. Now she is in the opposite, totally insane and kills TSs without the least regard. I suspect that Petey has something to do with this her transformation.

Yes, Flask knows both sides of the coin – a little too well.Unforgiveness drives us to become the very thing we hate. Flask is a topsider with a kitty coat. I also notice that Flask’s uniform is different. Possible she was an enemy of this set of topsiders before she was mutated. Perhaps her mutation is due to losing to the current topsiders?I don’t remember any of the other end town security officers having ensignias like Flask’s. Perhaps that’s why our scientist friend doesn’t trust her.Likewise we haven’t found the meaning behind Wally’s insignia.

Remember, too, that Flask was gleefully trying to have Al and Gustine executed, not long ago. Amongst other things.I agree that I don’t like what she’s doing, but I’m fascinated with her as a character in this story.

Agreed Jenner. “What gets Character X to act this way?” is a powerful motivation to keep reading. Aaron is doing his job as a storyteller. :)

I am really starting to hate Fridays!

In my above list of options for what happens to Linda next, I think I overlooked one.Flask is doing the standard “if you don’t like being treated this way, why are you treating everyone else like this” routine that parents like to pull on their kids. Linda and Doug were taunting Holly and Wally, so Flask is simply returning the favor. However. What are the odds that Linda’s going to be sitting on the wrong side of the scalpel in a minute? After all if the PT returns to camp with a brain in a jar, does it really matter WHOSE brain it is?
