I got through 4 years of college with no debt. Worked my a** off at two jobs. THAT’s what you can teach Skyler. But be careful, he’s a birdbrain. (Really. Just look at him.)

The main thing college taught me was that my Air Force trade school had a lot more relevance to real life than a college degree.

What you get out of college, like everything else in life, depends on what you put into it.

Let’s be honest—education and logic are unAmerican. Scientists, esp. those who disagree with the prevailing Corporate Mythology should be jailed for treason.

I guess that’s one way of describing the process of opening up young people’s minds to alternative explanations of the propaganda they’ve been force fed up to that point. It sounds like you could use some of that gmartin.

How and why did we develop the myth that a college education is necessary to get along in life? Experience shows us that not everyone is college material and those folks should not be taking up space in a classroom just because they think they need to go.Of course, American business is partially to blame for this. Many businesses ask for a college degree to do some comparitively simple job like front desk switchboard operator. My sister learned to operate one of the old patch cord switchboards back in high school. I cannot imagine the pushbutton switchboards are harder to operate. But then again, some kids seem to graduate from college with an education equivalent to what was a high school education fifty years ago. That is a sad commentary on the current state of our educational systems.I will dismount my soapbox now.

College taught me I didn’t want to go to college. hated it. the most narrow-minded, unrealistic, detatched concentration of boneheads I’ve ever had to deal with. I did 21 years in the navy instead. At least there the boneheads were easily identified by the little gold or silver bars on their collars.

Gee, and I remember when college was about getting an education and trade schools were about getting a job. I’m older than dirt.
