The wolf had eaten Hamhock, but denied even knowing who he was…so Tyr smashed him – freeing Hamhock, and punishing him for eating him and lying.
Don’t quite get the point of Wolfy McRubble’s line in the last panel, though.
I prefer to think that Hamhock disguised himself as a wolf, but his voice gave him away. The line in the last frame is a lame excuse. Or whatever! It’s not very funny today in any case.
…at least I thought it was funny, Phil. ;-)
On first reading, I thought the wolf was Bixby – it’s been so long since we’ve seen him.
Is that a pig? I couldn’t tell. A better artist would improve this strip.
