    Now, that’s real border control…see the valve control handles? Yup….and, you’d think Washington could see it. Then again, maybe they can……………

    The NRA has one of those valves frozen in the open position.

    No, Swirly, the shoe should indeed be on the feet of the NRA. As to the wall, it has proven to be another failed HUGE waste of money and effort, the ’toon could well show the influx of drugs AND “illegals” easily flowing over, under, and through that idiotic fence. It could also show the disruption of “lifestyles” and wildlife along the border, with NO significant reduction in illegal activity outside a few extremely limited areas, where prior staffing and logistics were actually just about as effective.

    STOP the illegal drug use in the U.S., with law changes, and more rational policies, and the “wars” will end. Prohibition proved that extremist policies were worse than the “damage” of alcohol, and the same is true of drugs. We still see counterfeiting of tax stamps on alcohol, and cigarettes (more so), but not nearly the crime wave and deaths we saw under Prohibition. We might not find a “cure all”, but if we reject the vaccine, the disease remains virulent and deadly.

    It is now well known that Mexico gets the majority of its guns from south america – also all of its military grade bombs, grenades, automatic weapons and such. Not counting what the BATFE made sure made it into the country – our contribution to the violence is mainly in the purchase of drugs and the support of their government blaming everyone but themselves for their problems.

    @droutma

    Alcohol is a substance that occurs naturally in the blood of human beings from the digestive process of carbohydrates, sugars, etc. Taking a drink only changes the ratio, which is why prohibition was couldn’t win. Drugs don’t occur naturally, so you are comparing apples and oranges. Drugs are a horrible scourge on society and eliminating prohibition on drugs would be the downfall of society as we know it, so I suggest you go to the library and do some research because you have no idea what you’re talking about.

    ^yeast produces alcohol as a byproduct of digesting sugars, until it kills itself off at around 12% by volume. Yeast doesn’t do well in high acid environments in the stomach or gut. Marijuana is a “natural” substance. Opiates, like morphine and heroin are distilled products, like bourbon or scotch, not beer or wine. Yes, heroin, crack, meth, and other “refined” or artificial narcotics, like OxyContin, Vicodin, et al are EXTREMELY dangerous and a horrible scourge, brought into the chain by “big pharma” for decades. Even coca, chewed by Andean natives for millennia has a positive application in oxygenation of hemoglobin at altitude, but subject to abuse, especially when refined, even though cocaine is legal for use in some rhinoplasty procedures— most stock brokers aren’t plastic surgeons.

    Gee, and that’s off the top of my head without going to the library. But after making a few hundred drug arrests, I’ve seen the real problem, and put away some of the real “bad guys”. Some dude doing a joint he grew in the back yard for his own use, is NOT the “problem”.

    Vortex, you said that dtroutma’s post was full of sh__, then didn’t raise a single fact in your defense. What dtroutma posted was full of verifiable facts. We’ve spend $90 billion on the fence, Obama has hugely increased the number of deportations over what W did, and it’s still been a failure. What part of his post, if any, can you claim to be false, or are you just blathering like usual?

    I was in high school in the middle fifties and beer was the week-end buzz that we played with. It doesn’t mean it was OK…it’s just the way it was. Beer on the week-end meant pay-back Monday morning….ouch. But alcohol’s pay-back was the next day…then it was over….not downstream by the drugs of today…so bad that it really adversely affects the personality development of the emerging teenage mind. That’s my understanding…am I wrong?

    hmmmmdrugs are not naturally occuring?

    marijuana, opiates, peyote/psilisybin.

    and you tell dtroutman to go to the library!

    laws against drugs are what do not occur naturally.

    and many countries have proven that their societies don’t go down the drain when drugs are legalized.

    all it does is stop ‘law enforcement’ from creating violent situations and wasting billions of dollars. the REASONs why drugs are illegal:

    1. law enforcement wants the money.2. republicans want to build, more jails3. competition with big pharma lobbiests

    smart thing to do is to legalize regulate and tax.

    @dannysixpack——-

    I said alcohol occurs naturally in the blood stream and when one drinks it changes the ratio. I then said and drugs didn’t occur naturally. The thread (you knew what it was) was meant that the drugs didn’t occur naturally in the blood stream as alcohol does, but if you want to distort and rationalize that I was referring to drugs not occurring naturally in nature then I need to move on.
