So sad, but true for so many. Tomorrow is also the anniversary of the end of the Battle of Midway.

There are way too many people like Janis. We are in debt that we cannot afford and we waste money on studies about the sex life of humming birds!!! 49% of Americans do not pay taxes and they vote for more benifits from Uncle Sam. If we could package a movie aout what America has become and send it back it in time to 4 June 1944, The GI wouls say why bother.

C’mon - a week ago everybody was giving Jimmy props for a sweetly sentimental Veteran’s Day, so you know he cares. He has to make funny SOMEtimes or he wouldn’t have a comic strip. You know Janis is just goofing to tweak Arlo’s buttons - it doesn’t mean she doesn’t know or appreciate what it’s about.

On this day, I remember the Bedford Boys, the men of Easy Company, the first battle of the day at Pegasus Bridge, the guys who scaled Pointe du Hoc and so many others who broke down the Atlantic Wall. God bless ’em all!!

If you took all the money the Government spends on studies like that and gave it to the Defense Department, it would fund the war in Afghanistan for another 15 minutes, or build a couple fighter jets that don’t work and the Pentagon doesn’t want. The difference is, the study of the sex life of hummingbirds might tell us something we didn’t already know…

You want to cut the debt? Why not look at where the money is really GOING? You’ve got a problem where tax money comes from? Why not look at where the available money really IS?

My father-in-law was at Normandy. I’m grateful he survived, since otherwise my husband wouldn’t have been born.
