It is funny-just not easily appreciated. I always remember a Thanksgiving dinner where I introduced my Cuban fiance to the family and we were comparing names – and my cousin Bruce stood and announced dramatically “Je suis boniato” (the popular Thanksgiving veg), because it began with the same letter. Many jests do not translate well.

yes, except the rah-rah phrase requires the letter “I”, where the saying requires the “je”. THAT’s the JOKE…
