This cartoon reminds me of one Oliphant drew in 1968 when Mitt’s dad George Romney dropped out of the Presidential race.

In 1968, the Republicans—Richard Nixon, in particular—were also helped by the candicacy of George Wallace and Nixon’s “Southern Strategy.”

^Oh? I’m a resident of Massachusetts and know Romney’s “performance” very well indeed — obviously rather more than you. He was a lame governor: he didn’t know how to work with the legislature and tried to treat them like his servants (which incidentally indicates he was a crappy CEO as well, which doesn’t surprise me, because he treated his employees the same way), and he knew he wouldn’t get re-elected, so he left to pursue “other opportunities.” His one positive accomplishment — Romneycare — was something the Democrats in the legislature were happy to pass, but now he’s running away from it! Oh, yes, and he’s a documented liar, since he was pro-choice and pro-gay marriage when he was running against Kennedy for senator, but said to other audiences since that he had “fooled” the people of Massachusetts into voting for him on these grounds. So: liar, incompetent, and desperately ambitious. Great combination.

I still say it is a long time between now and August 27, 2012 when the Republican convention is held in Tampa. I would not bet money on anyone, well, except Obama.

Vortex is evidently quite deaf, or perhaps not proficient in English.

I just have this mental image of Vortex with his fingers jammed in his ears yelling “La la la la! I can’t hear you! La la la la….”
