Having to buy a new B’akt’an calender is not the end of the world. Don’t worry about the cost. I mean, it is good for the next 394 years or there abouts.
My comment yesterday on “Reality Check” mentioned that when I know the GPS is trying to go the wrong direction, I keep joing where I know, even tho’ I have to hear over and over “recalculating” (and her voice seems very annoyed).
More like Jan. 1 to 7, 2013; that’s the third time I’ve seen the Mayan Calendar date have to recalculated because we mess up the math. First it was 12-24-11, then 12-21-12, and now we don’t even know what the specific date is except “first week of January, 2013.” I mean, come on! Math is the definition of an exact science!! So why can’t researchers get it right?!
Math isn’t a science – it can be used as an art, with no relationship to the real world, necessarily. Mathematicians invented the number that stood for the square root of (-1), and later were horrified when it turned out that there was an application to the real world. When I went to university, you could get a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science with a major in mathematics. Don’t know how it’s done now.
It wouldn’t surprise me, as the Mayans were very smart, if there was some natural disaster in South America around whatever time they ACTUALLY predicted. Let’s not forget that their world seemed a lot smaller than ours.

Aren’t you always recalculating?

I wish our GPS would just put up a sign like that instead of that annoying voice over and over and over again!

You mean I’m going to have to get on my knees again and pray for forgiveness for my sins since 5-21?
