History IS amazing, old1953. I have an interest in reading U.S. history, and I simply cringe sometimes when I see what happened to tip a policy decision one way or another. It could simply be a missed train, a misunderstood telegram, a sudden illness, an imagened omen, a bad day with a spouse, etc.
old1953,
What was really sad about the Uncle Joe thing was what happened to the filmakers who were asked to put out wartime prop to support our great allies the Russians. Of course the gvt. nailed them for being commies after the war even though they had been following government instructions.
Say what you will about the Soviet Union but they had millions of civilian casualties during WW2. When it comes down to it, civilian casualties of the Brits and Europeans boggle the mind. We in the States have been spared that effect. Until 9/11, that is. Since then, look at what our response has been. War is hell, all the way and I wonder if humans will ever be able to shake our natural inclination to take territory and wage war.
One fact rarely remembered about 9/11 is that the target was the World Trade Center, not necessarily just the U.S. Many of the WTC victims were not American citizens.
something happened on 9/11 ………………..
Someone attacked
3 buildings fell like clockwork
The USA went after Iraq when 17 of the “identified” attackers were Saudi.
Mohammed Atta’s passport was found on the street by an FBI agent.
It is NOT about oil - look into my eyes -it is NOT about oil-
repeat -it is NOT about oil -
Rickoshayrabbit, I’ve not read Professor Zimbardo’s book, but I’m familar with his experiment, an account of which is available - in seven languages, no less ! -on the web (http://www.prisonexp.org/). Everyone who wonders about what we as humans are capable should check this - and Stanley Miligram’s experiment at Yale - out….
By judging how the broken Criminal Justice actually works, I’d say that the man inside the cartoon prison may be actually innocent. If the depiction is to be accurate to the real world.
