You make CEO pay contingent on performance, not the old boy network. No more Golden Parachutes. If your company turns around, you get rewarded for it, but if it tanks, then so do YOU.

Simon – I love the way wingnuts tell us we hate it when CEOs earn money. They earn money by having their friends on the Board give them obscene amounts of money. They then return the favor while on that friend’s Board.

We are telling them, HQ, is that they should not be REWARDED for stupid behavior.

Nor should it be the employees who suffer for their stupidity, Case in point, United Airlines.

And we tried your ‘Gov’t only gets in the way’ shtick for the last thirty years’ In that time we’ve gone from the world’s largest creditor nation to the world’s largest debtor nation, seen our manufacturing base say Sayonara, and watched the wealth gap expand from a drainage ditch to the Grand Canyon.

You had your chance…now it’s our turn. You can either pitch in and have some influence, stand aside, or get run over.

One more thing…the proposal was to roll back bonuses for execs whose companies are getting bailout money. Why should anyone have a problem with that? Do you WANT your tax dollars to pay for J.P. Gotrocks’ condo in the Bahamas?

Simon_j, I’m suspecting that a few of our posters here just might have “family” sitting on a bailed-out board.

And the Private sector needs help from Obama, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd,? Just who are the geniuses to tell corporations how to work?

Put yer straw-man away nofearsockpuppy. Capping bonuses and salaries is NOT telling companies how to work.

And btw…bought any peanut-butter lately? THAT’S what happens when you do away with Government regulations.

Ahhhh, but nofearpup and his alter ego have repeatedly preached that ALL government involvement in the private sector is wrong. By that logic, those ‘unenforced’ regulations would not have been there in the first place.

..yet somehow the lack of regulations, or enforcing the existing ones have nothing to do with the disaster we’re in today…

There is a reason I stoped asking “how stupid can people be”–there are always those who entusiastically answer and show me my worst expectations were not nearly bad enough.
