After being sent down to Stumptown of the Green Grass League, Shlabotnik eventually retired as a player and agreed to manage the Waffletown Syrups. Sadly, Joe was fired after only one game, after calling for a squeeze play—with no one on base.

Poor old Joe..in a slump sent down to Stumptown..Not as bad as Jose and Ozzie Canseco…Sent to Yuma..

He could always play for the Cubs…

I like Charlie Brown. He’s one of the few who don’t require someone to have great stats in order to be one of his favorites.

Joe got one hit that entire season, a single. That was definitely a different era in baseball — nowadays he would have been sent to the minors much, much sooner.

Ha—between the classic name of “Joe Shlabotnik” and the … not-so-stellar … batting average, love this one!

A .004 batting average is 1 hit in 250 at bats. That’s a heck of a lot of patience on the manager’s part.
