SNIFF
Wally: You'd DO that?!
SNIFF
Val: Sure! What's a couple more? We'll barely notice.
Joan: Wanna keep them for a WEEK?
Val: Barely notice for an HOUR, I meant to say.

Is Luci weaned yet? Because that could make things very difficult (gross understatement) for Val.

She’s still in diapers which would nix the idea where I’m concerned.

What’s the worse that could happen Joan? Max falling out of a tree and landing on his head, or falling out of a tree and dangling upside down with a rope around his leg, or this time he’ll fall out of the tree with a rope around his neck.

Wow, eatteaphonenome, that’s overreacting a bit… They are so sick that they can barely take care of themselves, and Val is her sister, so it’s not like she’s a stranger. Plus Holly and Alix can take care of themselves and/or help with the younger ones. From your reaction, I’m guessing that you must wrap your kids in bubble wrap every day to protect them from the “life threatening dangers” that exist everywhere (or you don’t have kids).

Check panel 4! Seems the babysitting offer made both Joan and Wally better! Miraculous!
