It’s the “and tried to tell them” part that turns people’s ears off. Part of my job is counseling highschoolers and I’ve learned to always wait until they ask you - then they listen.

This is not just true for the older generation- it’s the same when I try to tell my (older) husband something. >sigh<

JFrisch419: when I was younger, I already knew everything, so I didn’t have to ask the right questions!

    Or so I thought…. LOL

That’s when you have to roll your eyes and say, “Wish I’d thought of that…”

The same storyline is taking place on the Cathy comic now.

Whoever said “You can’t put an old head on young shoulders” didn’t have Photoshop. Margueritem; I didn’t know they had beaches in Arizona!

But sometimes you just have to try to warn them. My daughter told me it aggravated her that I was always right when I’d warn her on an “If you … then” basis. I could only laugh; thank her; and ask her how the heck she thought I knew!

    like soup?…

i aks for help when i need it, i think and way the options out. i seek guidenc from “older” people and then i do what i think is best with what they say and what i see will happen. so i end up doing the right thing and not being stupid. so its not *All* young people who are like that.

Goodquestion: we have LOTS of beaches in Arizona and New Mexico (where I am) – just no ocean.

Oh, JFrisch419, they don’t really have to ask totally the right question. Just something close, if they’re asking, they’re listening.

Thanks sfb5761. I forgot about all those tan and white beaches. And my wife is from Albuquerque!

    – PLEASE tell me you’re trying to be ironic or sarcastic with your statement above & the way you can’t/didn’t (didn’t in case it was intentional) spell things properly or capitalize letters when they are supposed to be. If you weren’t meaning to be ironic or sarcastic, and your errors simply are those, I suggest you re-read Mark Twain’s quote that Trucker Ron posted.

Trucker Ron - While that’s an interesting thought, Mark Twain did not say that. His father died when he was 11 years old.

OMG!This is so true - my mother tried to teach me to cook since I was a teen and I never bothered.Later when I was abroad,I looked up recipes online and boasted of my cooking skills to her :D.Of course, today I ask her for recipes rather than looking up online(but thats cos I dont have internet at home:D)
