Wally: Hoping your girls can take care of you when you're old? Val: Hoping they can take care of THEMSELVES when I'm old.

Absolutely! Teach them that they cannot depend on someone else to take care of them, and you have done them the biggest favor that they will EVER get! After all, her husband (their father) died, so hopefully they will get the message.

I so admire the people who take on the responsibility for others, but I admire them most when they teach as well as help. Val and Wally both have many such shining moments in this strip – very inspirational!
