Presumably we’re looking at Chekov’s Bullwhip.

I like it that the strip explains what to some people (Wikipedia non-users) might have seemed an obscure reference….

Learning about the origin of Charlie Chan. Interesting. I still watch Charlie Chan movies… Warner Oland and Sidney Toler. I think I like Toler better.

For anyone interested in a bit more education about Hawaii, here is something most of us don’t know. Is Hawaii a State?

I do like the fact that Mike is putting in a history lesson though. Very cool idea..Any chance of a Bufford Pusser bio down the road, Mike?

As Lizz must know, the whip has a long history with law-enforcement officers:

Actually Jim Doherty will be doing an occasional replacement for CRIMESTOPPERS called DICK TRACY’S HALL OF FAME saluting specific law enforcement officers. I might ask him if I can write one about Buford.

Maybe we’ll see little Halikiki the Pineapple princess all grown up from an early 60s story that took DT to Hawaii.

Forgot to mention, she looks better in black and white, regarding the eyes.

A friend once said to a young cashier “I just got back from vacation, in Hawaii and I haven’t had time to change my money . Do you accept Hawaiian money?” She said she would have to check with the manager, but she didn’t think so..

I would say that the initials on the cup stand for “Major Crime Squad”. Also, Joe…it is so nice to see Lizz with the dark mascara around the eyes again! It, of course, was her most distinguishing feature in the 60’s and 70’s.

Just did bio of person mentioned. They can make a movie of his life. The whip choice may be the fact he was a cowboy.

Hm. I use that panel from STARMAN as a con badge, because it shows Superman, but I also live on a farm, and lots of cattle around.

Seems that you saw Lash LaRue at his best … later in his career or should I say after his career … he was a big boozer … he made the state fair circuit and on several occasions ask for a kid to stand on stage with him and hold a rolled-up newspaper page in their mouth so he could stand off to the side of the stage and rip it from their mouth with his whip. Needless to say, he lashed the side of several faces over the year or so that he did that.

The current whip master is Adam Winrich. http://www.winrichwhips.com/index.html ADAM HOLDS 7 GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS:

The longest whip ever cracked (216 ft long) The most stock whip cracks in a minute (272) The most bullwhip cracks in one minute (253) And ‘fastest whip’ – 10 targets (4.85 seconds) The most two handed whip cracks in a minute (420) The most candles extinguished in one minute with a whip (50) The most drink cans broken with a whip in three minutes (23 cans) I have been looking over his videos. Pretty cool stuff.

Is it only me, or isn’t Liz looking hotter every day? If shelooks any younger she’ll be jailbait. Dick Tracy islooking pretty good himself for a octogenarian — he’slucky they don’t have mandatory retirement in the police force.
