Charlie Brown is sitting in the field. He jumps as Charlotte Braun appears and shouts, "WELL, IF IT ISN'T GOOD OL' CHARLIE BROWN!"<br> <br> He covers his face as she continues, "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING YOURSELF?"<br> <br> He shudders as she walks away and shouts, "I'M SORRY I CAN'T STAY AN' TALK..I HAVE TO GET HOME..."<br> <br> He stares after her with a dazed stance and expression. He says, "She's the only girl I know who has a built-in hi-fidelity speaker.."<br> <br>

from the peanuts wiki:.In 2000, it was revealed that a Peanuts fan had written to Schulz, requesting that he remove Charlotte Braun from the strip. Schulz replied that he would be willing to do so but said that the person who wrote to him would be responsible for “the death of an innocent child”. Schulz concluded the letter with a picture of Charlotte Braun with an ax in her head. The letter is now in the United States Library of Congress.

And good riddance! There may have been a shortage of India ink, so Schulz couldn’t do the bold font necessary for her character’s speech balloons!

She was the first character who completely disappeared before the 60’s! Shermy soon followed, Pig-Pen, Patty and Violet as well.

Charlotte Braun’s swan song, and did anyone notice at the time? Schulz would reuse her character design a few years later for Frieda.
